Five Nights at Freddy's Movie: What Is Five Nights at Freddy's About?
Five Nights at Freddy's originally came as a video game to PC. It was created and published by Scott Cawthon, who has also assisted in explaining the story to the eventual writers for the movie.
In the game, you are a guard on night shift. You are placed in the office of Freddy Fazbear's pizza at 12 AM and tasked with keeping the place safe. However, the four animatronics Freddy Fazbear, Chica, Bonnie and Foxy will attempt to get into your office to scare the ever living sh*t out of you.
As the guard, you can not move out of your office seat. However, you can shut the two office doors via buttons and only via buttons, and turn on lights in certain hallways to halt the progress of the animatronics. There's also a surveillance system aiding you, allowing you to spy on the animatronics through various cameras in the building.
The twist is that every light turned on, and every door you shut will use electricity, of which you have a very limited supply. Keeping your doors shut the entire night will not work – and if you run out of electricity, an animatronic showing up in your office is only a matter of time.
Your goal is to reach 6 AM, the end of your night shift, which is also the time the animatronics give up their chase and return to their usual location. You need to survive five nights to clear the game, with the animatronics getting more and more aggressive.
Since the release of the first game in 2014, Scott Cawthon has released eight main line games and six spin-offs that dive deeper into the story of Five Nights at Freddy's. The latest installment of the series is Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach , which was released in 2021.
Five Nights at Freddy's Movie: Who Is In The Cast?
The movie has a nice mix of new faces and veterans of the genre, working together to provide you with the best possible experience.
The main role of night guard Mike Schmidt will be played by Josh Hutcherson. He is best known for his role in The Hunger Games. Joining him on the stage will be Matthew Lillard, previously starring in Scream, who will play the serial murderer and father of the animatronics, William Afton.
Accompanying them throughout the movie will be Mary Stuart Masterson (Navy CIS) as a yet-unnamed villain, Piper Rubio (Unstable) as Abby and Kat Conner Sterling (We Have a Ghost) as Max.
