One Piece is heading for season 2 and many people want to board the project, among them is one A-List celebrity that has been eyeing the franchise for a while now.
The One Piece lie-action adaptation has been a great success for Netflix, making fans belive that anime adaptations can actually work! With One Piece season 2 on the way, one A-List celebrity in particular has been very vocal about her interest in joining the Straw Hats for season 2.
Okay, I'm not gonna make you wait: It's Jamie Lee Curtis who wants to play Dr. Kureha in the upcoming season!
The Netflix series One Piece is based on the Japanese manga and anime series created by Eiichiro Oda. It follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his pirate crew as they set out to find the greatest treasure ever left by the legendary Pirate, Gol D. Roger.
The story is packed to the brim with weird adventures, wholesome friendships, and battles and has turned into the biggest manga franchise of all time (quite literally).
Jamie Lee Curtis Wants To Join One Piece Adaptation On Netflix
On September 14, Eiichiro Oda himself confirmed that there will be another season for the popular One Piece live-action adaptation on Netflix. This news immediately raised some question, one of them being who will play some of the series' most iconic characters?
Well, at least for one major character they won't really have to look, as none other than Jamie Lee Curtis is dead set on playing Dr. Kureha in the upcoming One Piece season 2. In an Instagram post, she even declared that she "will lobby along with the growing fan frenzy" to play the iconic character.
Shortly after she made that post, one of the showrunners, for the One Piece series Matt Owens, responded saying, "Mommy dearest, that’s why we sent you that figure! No need to lobby. Once we get what we deserve and get back to work let’s talk!".
Yep, Matt Ownes calls Jamie Lee Curtis mommy, you heard it here first! While this is not official confirmation, yet, it shows that both parties are at least interest in making this idea a reality. So let's just hope for the best, which would be seeing Jamie Lee Curtis as Dr. Kureha!
