Harry potter philosophers stone — 7. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

The first Harry Potter movie, The Philosopher's Stone (or Sorcerer's Stone for our American audience) is a charming kid's movie filled with great moments, a ton of mystery, and a ton of fun. It's a great introduction to Harry Potter, but not without its flaws. For child actors, the case is pretty decent... but not perfect. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince — 6. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

I personally love this movie, and would usually put it much higher on my list of favorite Harry Potter movies. The problem? I have to admit that my opinion is kind-of wrong. The love triangles, the lack of serious plot, it's a bit of a problem-movie in those regards. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 — 5. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2

The final Harry Potter film is an incredible closure to the franchise (if only it had remained the end of the franchise), pulling all the series' characters for one final stand-off against Voldemort. It's a great ending to a great series, but does have one major flaw... the movie is basically just one giant fight scene... Like, seriously! | © Warner Bros. Pictures

4. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Fixing the couple of flaws that featured in the series' first movie, Harry Potter really came into its own in the second film, Chamber of Secrets. From the mysterious Basilisk to the much-improved performances and our proper introduction to the Weasley's, there's legitimately nothing to complain about here. 3. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Featuring one of the best Dumbledore moments in the entire show, and also one of the saddest scenes in Harry Potter history, Order of the Phoenix is an absolute killer. The ensemble cast is strengthened even further by a number of side-characters that join the fray and add just so much to the franchise. This is also where the final act of the series begins, with Voldemort finally back for real this time. What a ride! | © Warner Bros. Pictures

2. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

This is one of the darkest Harry Potter films, perhaps only rivaled by The Half Blood Prince and the first Deathly Hallows movie. Goblet of Fire brings together all the elements that made the first three movies incredible and added that dose of seriousness that came to define the later Harry Potter years. From the opening scenes at the festival, to that sinister and heart-breaking ending, this is where the series went from being great kids films to truly iconic. | © Warner Bros. Pictures

1. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Prisoner of Azkaban is an absolute classic, and possibly one of my favorite movies of all time. From the wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff to the Lupin and, of course, Sirius Black, there's so much to love in this movie. Hagrid plays a huge role, it introduces Michael Gambon as Dumbledore (though this would later become a controversial choice in Goblet of Fire), and it gives us one of the coolest setups in any of the films. The cast is in their element and the whole thing is just incredibly fun, with a perfect contrast between silliness and darkness. With the recent release of the Abominations of Dumbledore (sorry, The Secrets of Dumbledore, that movie sucks), we find ourselves at another interesting crossroads in the "Wizarding World" Universe. Okay, enough, let's refer to it as the Harry Potter Universe. Enough of this "Wizarding World" nonsense. This crossroad, though, makes the future of Harry Potter films uncertain and, more than ever, makes us long for the days of ol'. You know, when Harry Potter content was actually good?

Thus, we're going to do something that nobody has ever thought of (like seriously, no one has ever done this before, I am being totally original here) and rank all the Harry Potter movies from Best to Worst. Don't worry, though, I ain't including any of the Fantastic Beasts movies, let's just continue to forget that they even exist. Oh, and if you really want them on this list, then plop them right at the end and deal with it. Here's the real list, okay?
