After being severely bullied for playing Jar Jar Binks in the Star Wars prequels, actor Ahmed Best finally gets his chance to shine as one hell of a badass in The Mandalorian Season 3.
With The Mandalorian Season 3 we get introduced to a couple of new and awesome characters, some of which might in fact not be completely new to the franchise. For those of you that have seen the infamous Star Wars: Prequels, this season brings back the actor of one of the most iconic (and hated) characters in the franchise, Jar Jar Binks.
Ahmet Best Makes His Epic Return To The Franchise
If you expected the epicness that would have been Darth Jar Jar, the omnipotent Sith Lord, you'll be disappointed. The veteran Star Wars actor will not reprise his role as the goofy Gungan and instead play a new character with Jedi Master Kelleran Beq.
Beq served as an instructor at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant and supervised Padawans undergoing the trials to become full-fledged Jedi Knights. He's also pretty badass, fights with two lightsabers and massacred Vader's finest troops during the events of Order 66 to get Grogu to safety.
If not for Kelleran Beq, Grogu would have never made it out of the Jedi Temple and meet Din Djarin. So yea, Beq is a pretty important character.

That's especially cool after all the harassment Ahmed Best had to endure for his portrayal of Jar Jar Bink (something he had no say in).
If you're curious about some other series coming out this year (probably) we compiled all the information we had on The Witch season 3 into a short video, so check it out:
In an interview with Wired in 2017, Best admitted that he was faced with death threats and even had people coming up to him, in person.
“I had people come to me and say, 'You destroyed my childhood'. That's difficult for a 25-year-old to hear.”
All the negative feedback and hateful messages took a heavy toll in the actor's psyche and in 2018, he revealed that he struggled with suicidal thoughts.
“This was the place I almost ended my life. It’s still hard to talk about. I survived, and now this little guy [referring to Best’s son] is my gift for survival. Would this be a good story for my solo show? Lemme know.”
After all the hardship Best had to endure for something he had no control over, it is great to see him return as one hell of a badass to kick some ass.
So let's celebrate the return of the actor of one of the most iconic characters of the franchise and let's see what Kelleran Beq has in store for us! I, for one, hope for a backstory and maybe even his own spin-off series?
