It was highly anticipated, and it doesn't dissapoint: Cyberpunk Edgerunners is an amazing anime.
Who would've thought that Cyberpunk Edgerunners would have a much better launch than the game? Certainly not me. Truth be told, I was weary of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, because it's not exactly like game-to-anything adaptions usually turn out amazing. Well, Edgerunners is the exception, and Netflix certainly did its thing here: The Cyberpunk anime is amazing, and you should absolutely watch it.
Is Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Worth Watching
Cyberpunk Edgerunners is one of the best animes of the year, so yes it is worth watching. The studio responsible for this new shining star on the anime horizon is Studio Trigger, and all reviews are unanimous in concluding that Edgerunners is really, really good. After League of Legends: Arcane, this marks the second incredible game-to-anime adapation. Just like Arcane, Edgerunners is quite mature, and has very fancy visuals.
Story-wise the game easily holds a candle to Cyberpunk 2077, and, arguably, does better by the typical cyberpunk themes. In a way, one could almost argue that Edgerunners is the salvation for the cyberpunk universe, that was so underused in the game. Over 10 episodes, Edgerunners makes me more excited about the upcoming games in CDPR's new franchise than Cyerpunk 2077 ever did. The game was never able to make Night City come to life like this, while the anime really takes its time to bring the broken dreams of all the lost souls in the Night City's underworld closer to us.
