God of War Ragnarok Might Take Place in the Underworld

Remember how God of War 2 from way back took place in the underworld? Well, that might just give us clues for God of War Ragnarok.

The latest God of War Ragnarok trailer, shown off at the Sony State of Play, was incredible and it made the impression that the events of God of War 2 are going to play a major part in the upcoming God of War game. More specifically, Kratos' escape from the Underworld back then might foreshadow some of Ragnarok's events.

God of War 2 Influences God of War Ragnarok

Why exactly are we so confident that the past will matter in God of War Ragnarok? Well, at the end of the 2018 God of War, there is a mural that predicts Kratos' death, along with all the events that happened throughout the game. Now, as your traditional loving son, Atreus is seen worrying about his dad in the trailer, talking about protecting his dad, which prompts Kratos to reply "Death can have me when it earns me," along with the more crucial following line "Fate only binds you, if you let it. Do what is necessary. Not because it is written. We will make our own destiny."

Now if you played the original God of War series, you might remember that in God of War 2, Kratos is literally killed at the beginning of the game. He then fights his way back from the Underworld, takes care of the Sisters of Fate, and rolls back time to undo his own death. So... Kratos has literally defied death before, and is, quite literally, not binded by fate - just like he told Atreus, he made his own destiny.

So... yeah, Kratos might die in Ragnarok, and we might just get to visit a different Underworld this time around: We might pay a visit to the hell from Norse Mythology. Now, would that something you might be interested in? Because... I certainly am.
