The success of everything "John Wick" is always a pretty safe bet. The spinoff show "The Continental" hits Peacock later this year and here are all the news for you, including the release date, trailer, cast, plot and even more!
John Wick, amazingly portrayed by everybody's darling Keanu Reeves, introduced audiences to something akin to a perfect world, at least in one regard: hurting a puppy doesn't go unpunished. Everything else is pretty cruel and frightening, actually.
The Continental may not feature John Wick himself, but that doesn't mean the mini-series won't have its own thrilling plot and captivating characters. So let's jump straight back into this world filled with revenge and merciless men, shall we?
The Continental Release Date & Trailer
Good news for fans: the release is basically around the corner. The Continental will hit Peacock on September 22, 2023 as "a three-part event from the world of John Wick."
Three-part event, you may ask? It's a mini-series with three episodes that will release weekly, resulting in this schedule:
- Episode 1: September 22, 2023
- Episode 2: September 29, 2023
- Episode 3: October 6, 2023
The episodes are simply titled "Night One", "Night Two" and "Night Three," leaving lots of room for speculation. What's for certain, though, is how good the trailer looks:
The Continental Cast, Or: "Is Keanu Reeves In It?"
I'm gonna pull that tooth right away: no, Keanu Reeves is not in the series. The Continental is its own show and while I love the wholesome Keanu as much as everyone, it's about the John Wick world, not John Wick himself!
Peacock treats audiences to another, also pretty impressive cast. Here's the list:
- Mel Gibson as Cormac
- Colin Woodell as the young Winston
- Nhung Kate as Yen
- Katie McGrath as the Adjudicator
- Peter Greene as young Uncle Charlie
- Jessica Allain as Lou
- Adam Shapiro as Lemmy
The cast is even bigger though, further including Jeremy Bobb, Dan Li, Ayomide Adegun, Sallay Garnett and that doesn't even touch on the extended supporting cast. The Continental is written and directed by Greg Coolidge, Kirk Ward and Shawn Simmons.
The Continental Plot
Of course, this will be kept spoiler-free, don't worry!
The Continental is a hotel chain serving as neutral ground for members of the criminal underworld and is therefore frequently used by hitmen and other criminals.
The official synopsis reads:
The three-part event will explore the origin behind the iconic hotel-for-assassins centerpiece of the John Wick universe through the eyes and actions of a young Winston Scott, as he’s dragged into the Hell-scape of 1970’s New York City to face a past he thought he’d left behind. Winston charts a deadly course through the hotel’s mysterious underworld in a harrowing attempt to seize the hotel where he will eventually take his future throne.
Sounds like a pretty stressful time for good old Winston. Make sure to catch the first episode on September 22!
