Prey, the latest installment in the Predator franchise, has not only gotten positive reviews from audience and critics alike, but also a bunch of Emmy nominations. The praise is well earned, and Prey writer Dan Trachtenberg has even more ideas for a possible sequel.
The Predator franchise is well known for its terrifying hunters tormenting humanity in their merciless search for trophies (aka people). The latest entry in the series Prey from 2022 by Dan Trachtenberg is arguably the best movie out of the bunch.
In an interview with The Playlist, the Trachtenbach couldn't help but talk about all the crazy things he could imagine in a possible sequel. But first things first: what is Prey even about?
"No one stopped thinking about how cool things could be going forward."
Asked about the Prey's huge success and his involvement in a possible sequel, Trachtenberg tried to dodge the question, sparking hope for fans for a possible prequel or sequel.
I can’t really say anything about that right now, but I’ll say while we were finishing the movie, we were having really exciting conversations. The studio, myself, the writer, and the producers about what crazy things could we do next. And I’ve never stopped, no one stopped thinking about how cool things could be going forward.
I get it, I get it: there's no confirmation of a direct sequel to Prey being in the works, but hear me out. Trachtenberg didn't deny working on Prey 2 now, did he? And exciting conversations between basically everyone and their mother about it, paired with the success Prey had, should lead to something good, right?
... Right? Am I too hopeful right now?
Whatever the case may be: there's obviously ideas floating around in everyone's heads and there certainly are more stories to tell. Might be just a matter of time until fans get more news on that front.
