The first season of Jujutsu Kaisen was a huge success, becoming one of the most popular ongoing anime and even prompting a movie spinoff.
Now that the trailer for the second season has dropped, together with the release date set in 2023 and the plot already accessible through the manga , it is time to give you everything we know so far about Jujutsu Kaisen season 2.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2: Release Date
On March 25, 2022, the first trailer for JJK Season 2 dropped, introducing us to a couple of characters and finally giving us a release date to look forward to.
The release date is set for July 6, 2023, so we will finally rejoin Yuji and friends for Jujutsu Kaisen season 2… or not, because the cast will be a little different than you might think.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Cast Looks A Lot Different
For the cast, we already know that things will be a little different for season 2 of JJK. We will do a little time jump into the past and instead of Itadori, Fushiguro and Nobara, join Gojo and his bestie Geto in their adventures.
Don't worry, though, there will be a bunch of characters returning for the second part of Jujutsu Kaisen season 2. For the returning cast, we know of:
- Satoru Gojo (Yuiichi Nakamura)
- Suguru Getou (Takahiro Sakurai)
- Megumi Fushiguro (Yuuma Uchida)
- Yuuji Itadori (Junya Enoki)
- Nobara Kugisaka (Asami Seto)
- Maki Zenin (Mikako Komatsu)
There are also a bunch of character designs for side characters that have recently been revealed. You might recognize some of these, from the first season, but they changed quite a bit.

Suguro Getou will make his return, this time not as a villain, but as a Jujutsu High student and friend of Gojo. This means we will finally get some more context on why the two of them ended up as enemies in the Jujutsu Kaisen movie.
Season 2 will also feature a key figure for the stories to come with Toji Zenin.
I'm not gonna spoil anything, but this is going to be another fan favorite, I guarantee it!
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2: Plot
As for the story, we already know what to expect from the Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 plot. Without spoiling anything, major, here's a quick wrap up.
The new season will turn the clock back a couple of years (as mentioned previously) and introduce us to a young Gojo Satoru und Suguru Geto taking on a mission as Jujutsu High students.
In that Arc, we're going to get a lot of background information on the two of them and why they turned out as they did.
We will also be introduced to the character of Toji Zenin, who is Megumi Fushiguro's dad and an important figure in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen.
It is unlikely that this storyline will go on for the whole second season, so we will probably also dive into the Shibuya Incident Arc, which is considered by many fans to be the best arc in the whole story.
