Peaky Blinders Team Slam Ron DeSantis
In a statement from the official Peaky Blinders Twitter, the producers of the popular British TV series condemned the illegal usage of TV footage in DeSantis' campaign trailer.
On behalf of the partners of Peaky Blinders-Steven Knight, Cillian Murphy, Caryn Mandabach Productions, Tiger Aspect Production and Baninjay Rights-we confirm the footage of Tommy Shelby's character used within the video posted by Ron DeSantis' campaign was obtained without permission or official license.
The character of Tommy Shelby, played by Cillian Murphy, was recently seen in a campaign trailer for Ron DeSantis' presidential campaign. In the trailer, there were attacks against former President Donald Trump and his statements in support of LGBTQ+ citizens and rights. DeSantis is known for his attacks on the LGBTQ+ community in legislative ways. For example, with the so called "Don't Say Gay" bill.

The statement from Peaky Blinders continues with the disapproval of the video’s narratives.
We do not support nor endorse the video's narrative and strongly disapprove of the use of content in this manner.
Tommy Shelby is not the only well known face featured in the homophobic ad. Besides him, there were also Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman, Leonardo DiCaprio as Jordan Belfort, and Brad Pitt as Achilles in Troy.
The inclusion of Achilles is especially ironic. It seems DeSantis has forgotten about the hero's young lover, Patroclus.
