While Disney and Marvel had their hands in video games for a long time, the entertainment giants are just now hosting their first ever dedicated games showcase. The Disney & Marvel Games Showcase 2022 will be host to a number of announcements and showings for games from their endless sea of franchises. In this article, we will show you everything you need to know about the showcase: what is the time of the show, what games will we definitely see and what else you can expect.
Disney & Marvel Games Showcase: Start Time & Live Stream
The Disney & Marvel Games Showcase will be broadcast on Friday, September 9 at 1pm PT/4pm ET/10pm CEST. It will be available to watch on many different YouTube- and Twitch channels, including official channels by Marvel, Disney, the D23 Expo and re-streams.
Announced Games
A number of games have already been announced for the Disney & Marvel Games Showcase. It has already been confirmed, that we will see the new Marvel game by Uncharted co-creator Amy Hennig and Skydance New Media. This game is supposed to future an ensemble cast of superheroes, but we don't know much else about it yet. It's going to be exciting to see more of it, hopefully including some gameplay.
We will also see Disney Dreamlight Valley, and hopefully that can clear up for me what that thing is. I'm still not sure! It kind of looks like Animal Crossing? We'll see. The game will come out soon as well, as you can see here:
The last confirmed titles are LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, possibly for a DLC announcement, and Marvel's Midnight Suns. The superhero game by XCom creators Firaxis has recently been delayed, we're still waiting for a new release date though. We will most likely see that at this show.
What Else To Expect
There are obviously quite a lot of games related to Disney and Marvel that haven't been confirmed for the show yet. We strongly expect to see more of Spider-Man 2, as has been recently speculated. The game got an announcement trailer at the PlayStation Showcase 2021, but we haven't seen it since. It's about time that we see some more gameplay of the sequel to Insomniac's hit game.
This is not the only game that Insomniac announced back then. They also revealed that they are working on a Wolverine game, which we saw and know absolutely nothing about. Well, a very short teaser. But that's it. It's now been over a year, so maybe it's finally time to see... something. Please just show us something!
In case you forgot, Disney owns a little franchise called Star Wars. And there are always Star Wars games in development. We expect to see Jedi: Survivor, the much-anticipated sequel to Jedi: Fallen Order. That's another game that only got a short teaser so far and could do with a more extensive showing. We also know that Amy Hennig is working on another Star Wars game, same as Respawn Entertainment. They're actually making three Star Wars games, so at least one of them has to show up here, right?
That's all we know about the Disney & Marvel Games Showcase 2022. Make sure to check it out on Friday and to stay here for a detailed breakdown of what we saw at the show.
