Wow, this is exciting: Studio Ghibli and Lucasfilm are working on something together! Woo! This is crazy, the people responsible for masterpieces like Spirited Away , Princess Mononoke , or Graves of the Fireflies are working with the company responsible for Star Wars. What is going on here? Let's check it out.

Studio Ghibli x Lucasfilm – Is This A New Star Wars Project?

The official Studio Ghibli account on Twitter (this one is actually verified, no worries), posted a short teaser video showing their logo and the Lucasfilm logo. That's... it. Watch it here if you don't believe me, but there's not much more to it. Not even any music, no hints on what this could be about, nothing.

But just because they're not giving us much, doesn't mean we can't speculate. And there's one road all of this leads to: Star Wars Visions. If you don't know what that is, let me explain briefly. Visions is an anthology series, where each episode is made by a different anime studio or designer, like Studio Trigger who made the Cyberpunk anime.

A second season of Visions has already been confirmed for Spring 2023. Will Studio Ghibli make an episode for it? Maybe, it definitely seems like a good bet. Maybe they will make something completely new as well, we don't know at this point. But we're very excited to find out, and when we do, we will let you know immediately.
