The Disney & Marvel Games Showcase 2022 was the first ever presentation of these entertainment titans that solely focused on their video game line-up. And with such big names involved, expectations were pretty high. This was also supported by a slew of rumors surrounding the event, which further amplified the hype. But could the event actually deliver? Let's check out all the games and announcements we saw at the showcase.
Disney & Marvel Games Showcase 2022: Everything We Saw
After many rumors, speculation was hot about what could be in this showcase. Here are our highlights from what we saw at the show.
Black Panther & Captain America Game By Uncharted Co-Creator Amy Hennig
The definite highlight of the show was the reveal of the new Marvel-themed game by Amy Hennig and Skydance New Media. As was confirmed before by leaks, the game will be set in WW2 and focus on Black Panther and Captain America. While the identity of the game has finally been confirmed, we're still lacking some key details, including the title, genre and release date.
We know that there will be multiple locations, including Paris and Wakanda, as well as four playable characters:
- A young Steve Rogers, aka Captain America
- Azzuri, T’Challa’s grandfather and the WWII-era Black Panther
- Gabriel Jones, a U.S. soldier and member of the Howling Commandos
- Nanali, leader of the fledgling Wakandan Spy Network
That's all though. We're still waiting for more information or even a gameplay showing. But that might still have to wait for a while.
Marvel's Midnight Suns Gets A Final Release Date
We were a bit worried about Midnight Suns, the Marvel superheroes game by the makers of XCom. It looked really cool in previews and trailers and we're very excited to play it. But after multiple delays, the last one left the game without a concrete new release date. Just a month later we finally got one though, as it has been confirmed that Marvel's Midnight Suns will launch on December 2.

Other Announcements
The showcase wasn't very long, but we got a number of more announcements and showings on a smaller scale. Here are some of our highlights:
- Disney Illusion Island has been annonuced, a co-op adventure game for Nintendo Switch featuring Mickey Mouse and friends. Coming in 2023.
- Tron: Identity is a new visual novel from famed indie developer Bithell Games.
- Disney Dreamlight Valley will get a Toy Story realm later this year
- Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will get a new Galactic Edition featuring character packs.
There were showings for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, The Return of Monkey Island, Alien: Dark Descent and more. Overall, it was a short and somewhat underwhelming show. Fans speculated and hoped for news by Insomniac Games regarding Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine, but nada. We will probably have to wait for the upcoming PlayStation showcase to see those in action.
