We gathered all the info you need about the final season: the exact release dates, the plot you can look forward to and the cast bringing the show to life one last time.
Queen Elizabeth II lives on: not only in the hearts of the Brits and history books, but also in Netflix's drama series surrounding her and the British royal family. The Crown's season 6 is going to be the last and will bring the successful show to an end.
The Crown has been going on for over seven years, had probably the most extensive cast for a Netflix show yet, and managed to bring a whole new side to the royal family: humanity. We've got all the info you need about what's to come.

The Crown Season 6 | Plot
The show is based on the actual royals, so I don't know if a spoiler warning counts for history...? But be warned either way, especially if you slept through history class.
Netflix already hinted at one big event in the final season. It's a little bit more than a simple hint, actually – more like a whole invitation to the royal wedding between Prince Charles and Camilla. That means the final season will at least cover the events up to 2005.
That also means that there are a some other heavy events to cover: the death of Princess Diana comes to mind. Season 6 of The Crown covers her final weeks. If you're interested in Diana's true story, check it out in her own words [Book on Amazon].
Not only that, the show will also portray how Kate Middleton and Prince William met (both actors have already been cast), which makes sense as they first met in 2001, and we already know that season 6 covers the royals at least up until at least 2005, if not longer.
If the trailer is anything to go by, though, Kate and William will meet in December on Netflix. Part 1 apparently covers the events leading up to Diana's untimely end.
The Crown Season 6 | Cast
With the absolutely huge cast, the question about the ensemble surely is a big one. For the last season, Imelda Staunton will reprise her role as Queen Elizabeth II, Jonathan Pryce will return as Prince Philipp as well as Leslie Manville as Princess Margaret.
Diana will be portrayed by Elisabeth Debicki for the short time she has left. Prince William and Kate Middleton have been cast as well and will be portrayed by Ed McVey and Meg Bellamy respectively.
While it's going to be bittersweet to leave the Netflix version of the royals behind, the show was planned to have six seasons from the get-go. So let's count our blessings, and we'll make sure to keep you posted on everything else that's coming our way regarding The Crown!
