Fortnite Creative was released in March 2023 and Epic has already shown what is possible with the Unreal Editor for Fortnite with some creative maps! And now you've probably got the urge to create your own dream map!
Creating maps with the editor is relatively complicated as it requires a lot of knowledge about the Unreal Engine. However, it's relatively easy to create "simpler" cards that can also be edited with normal creative mode.
So today we're going to show you the first steps on how to create your own map in Fortnite Creative 2.0.
Fortnite: How To Create Your Maps In Creative 2.0 (UEFN)
First of all, it must be said that the Unreal Editor for Fortnite is currently only available on PC. Due to its complexity, it is very difficult to use this tool on consoles. However, console and mobile users can still play the created Creative 2.0 maps.
To get started, you must first download the Fortnite Creative 2.0 add-on. Then you can get started.
1. Create Your Project
Once you open the Unreal Editor for Fortnite, you can choose the project you want to work on. You can either choose one of the pre-made islands to familiarize yourself with the tools and functions, or create a completely new map straight away.
If you want to choose a pre-made island, browse through the available island templates and choose the one you like the most. After that, the map will be loaded into the editor and you can start editing it.
At this point, your map is available for the game and you can visit it by pressing the Start Session button on the top bar.
2. Edit Your Map
Now for the fun part of Creative 2.0. You can edit anything on your island, and when we say anything, we mean anything! From objects to graphics and colors to terrain, you can create and change everything according to your wishes. You can also add your own 3D models and animations.
