Customization is a big part of Armored Core 6, and the different leg types are among the most important parts of your gear that you can change around. We'll show you everything you need to know about the different leg types in the game.
It's leg-day! In Armored Core, legs are one of the key customizations. If you experiment with them, you will realize, that changing the legs can have an enormous impact on how the game feels to you. They influence the movement as much as your protection and weapon choice.
Armored Core 6 Beginner's Guide: 5 Things You Need To Know
From the gameplay trailer, we learned of four leg types that were already used in former Armored Core parts. To get a better understanding of the legs, let's take a look at the basics.
- Every leg type has 3 different variants, a light, a middle and a heavy one. The variants define how much hits you can take. The heavier the leg, the fewer weapons you can take with you and the less mobility you have.
- That brings us to the second variable you can work with, the load limit. The load limit defines how many weapons you can take into battle, as well as how strong these weapons are.
- The last variable is the movement. How nimble is your mech, can you jump high, is it easy to dodge and also how well you can fly.
So now with the basics clear, let's take a look at the different legs:
Armored Core 6: Bipedal Legs
The Bipedal legs are kind of all-rounder legs. They are a good option for non-experienced players due to their versatility and simple way of control. Their weight variation will affect your load limit, if you want to have more armor you can simply chose a heavier configuration. Also, you have some recoil control, that makes shooting a bit easier. But watch out, their precision with back-mounted canons is reduced.
- Armor: medium
- Load limit: medium
- Mobility: medium
Armored Core 6: Reverse-Joint Legs
The Reverse-Joint legs are for those who like a more agile play style. They come with an incredible movement speed, a good maneuverability, high jumps and a long flight time. But for all of these movement upgrades, you sacrifice your armor and also the load limit is reduced. The best way is to specialize on a build to get to its full potential. The Reverse-Joint legs are the ones the most difficult to play, but it looks very impressive if you can handle them.
- Armor: low
- Load limit: low
- Mobility: high
Armored Core 6: Treads
If you prefer to play something a bit heavier, the treads are exactly what you need. They basically transform you in a tank. They allow you to equip heavy weapons with a higher firepower, and even the lighter configurations grant you a good durability. Therefore, your flight capacity and turn speed is way lower, and thus your ability to dodge. Nonetheless, you have still a good speed, so ramming enemies is also an option. But be aware you might not be as rich because you need to spend money on your repairs.
- Armor: high
- Load limit: high
- Mobility: low
Armored Core 6: Tetrapod Legs
Veterans of the game might still call them "Quads" and they have a unique play style. The Tetrapod legs have a reduced recoil from heavy weapon that makes them, a great use for fighting from longer distances. Also, their ability to hover helps to emphasize the ranged play style, since you can easily stay out of the enemies range.
- Armor: medium
- Load limit: high
- Mobility: medium to low
Now you have a general overview about the legs and what they do. We hope we could give you an Idea and you are now able to plan your build for when the game releases.
