A new leak revealed exciting info on the next Assassin's Creed game, including a big reveal on the name and other details.
We have multiple new Assassin's Creed games coming up, most prominently the live-service game Infinity and the Valhalla spin-off with the codename Rift. Not much has been officially revealed about either of them yet, but we keep getting interesting leaks for the new Assassin's Creed games. And we got another one for you right here.
This one concerns Rift, which is supposed to be the next AC game and has seen a number of different leaks. We got another big batch of info and even an artwork for Rift... or is that name just an illusion?
Assassin's Creed Rift Is Actually Called Mirage; Details Confirmed
The next Assassin's Creed game will not be called Rift, the actual name is Assassin's Creed Mirage. We always knew that Rift was just a code name, but we had no idea what the actual name would be... until now. This leak comes from YouTuber jOnathan and was handily summarized on Twitter.
As you can see below, other parts of the leak were already known: Mirage will be set in Baghdad, is set for a release in Spring and will go back to the roots of the series.

Of course, the big man Jason Schreier from Bloomberg, who revealed all known details on the next AC game, has commented on this and confirmed most of these details. Here is what we can assume is correct about Assassin's Creed Mirage:
- Will be released in April – June 2023
- You will play as Basim from Assassin's Creed Valhalla and the game will take place between 860 and 870 in Baghdad
- The game will be strongly inspired by Assassin's Creed and will most likely not feature any RPG elements from the previous AC games, including level systems and dialogue choices
Schreier emphasizes that there won't be multiple cities and most likely no DLC for the game. Other details on the gameplay haven't been confirmed yet.
Assassin's Creed Mirage Artwork Leaked
Shorty after the info drop, another leak popped up. Two images of an artwork for Assassin's Creed Mirage were apparently found in the Ubisoft Store and posted to Twitter (see the clean artwork at the top of the article). The original tweet was removed, but you can see one of the images here. It seems to promote a campaign called "The Forty Thieves Quest", which could be DLC for Mirage.
