You can do almost anything in Baldur's Gate 3. And if Necromancy is your thing, that includes raising fungal zombies from the dead.
The fungal zombies from The Last of Us are iconic and, as everybody by now probably knows, they are based on a real parasite. But while these zombies are your enemy in The Last of Us, you can make use of them in Baldur's Gate 3. Here you'll get the chance to put the "fun" back in "fungi" as the devs said and raise your own colony of walking mushrooms of doom.
Raise Your Army Of Last-of-Us-Like Zombies
Fungi are cool, fight me. For example, there's a type of slime mold known as "the blob" which is just one cell that can grow up to several square meters, and it has some kind of memory, and is able to find the most efficient route to connect points of interest (food). The method it uses is surprisingly complex, and when tested, "the blob" was able to create an almost perfectly efficient railway system for Tokyo, based on the location of the major areas. Pretty clever for a single cell.

If you travel to the Underdark you'll meet the Myconids, a fungal species with a collective hive mind (who certainly do consist of more than one cell). They're able to use their spores to raise the dead as a body for their younglings, who can evolve to do work for them – or fight. How your relation to the Myconids will turn out is, as always in Baldur's Gate 3, completely up to you. But you'll probably want to stay friendly if you're a member of the Circle of Spores.
As a Druid, you'll get the chance to join the Circle of Spores, and you'll be able to raise your dead enemies as loyal, fungal servants, as the "Larian Gazette" explains. You can make this decision as soon as your druid reaches level 2!

Since multiclassing will be possible, it sure would be interesting to do so with the Necromancer and a Circle Spores Druid to become the ultimate Mushroomancer. This honestly sounds like Ellie's worst nightmare, but I'm definitely gonna try it. Sorry Ellie!
