Obviously, since Baldur's Gate 3 uses the Dungeons & Dragons 5e game system, it's practically a must that there are dungeons for you to explore! One dungeon that you may have already come across is the Thorm Mausoleum dungeon in Baldur's Gate 3. The puzzle in there is a bit tricky, so if you're stuck on it, check out our puzzle guide, here!
The Thorm Mausoleum in Baldur's Gate 3 is a bit further past your usual way. If you're looking for it, you can find it in the Shadow-Cursed Lands. It's definitely a place that you'll want to go to, as you can find some juicy rewards for yourself, and we're not just talking about material rewards.
The rewards for solving the Thorm Mausoleum Puzzle are not only the usual treasures that you get in Baldur's Gate 3. Besides that, you'll also receive dark knowledge about the tragic past of the Shadow-Cursed Lands and even insight to General Ketheric Thorm's secret. But wait, there's more! As another reward for your efforts you'll gain information about Shadowheart's origins, as well as progress in Astarion's quest line.
But let's start from the beginning, before we venture further into the most tedious and challenging dungeon, so far, the Thorm Mausoleum!
Baldur's Gate 3: Finding the Thorn Mausoleum
You find the Thorn Mausoleum in the northwestern area of the Shadow-Cursed Lands. In order to get there, you need to go past the obscure House of Healing and the graveyard filled with foes lurking in the shadows.
You'll find Raphael in front of the entrance. No matter how you deal with him, you can now freely venture further into the optional dungeon. You'll notice the first area is relatively small, but locked with a puzzle. In order to get past this little hindrance, all you need is to read three diaries and unlock the puzzle.
Here is how you tackle this!
Baldur's Gate 3: The Diaries Location & Puzzle
In order to get as much information as you can, take a closer look at the Diaries. You'll find them in the entrance hall as shown in the picture above. There is also a Stained Book on an altar with some smaller hints for the upcoming puzzle you find yourself in.
As you venture even deeper into the northern room, you'll find an empty coffin, several traps on the ground and three pictures on the wall. I recommend to use only a single character for this small room, as your companion always trample over the traps and disabling them isn't worth it.
In order to solve the puzzle, you need to interact with the pictures. But for this one you need the correct order. If you fail pressing the right buttons, the room will be filled with a black void fog and the hidden passage stays hidden.
Press the buttons in the following order:
- Moonrise Towers
- Grief
- General
Upon solving this puzzle, you can now enter the next room and descend into Shar's Sanctum. Here you can search for the Nightsong and enjoy a very challenging piece of work. Well done, Larian Studios!
