The marvel that is Elden Ring only served to increase the hype for Souls-like games, and Black Myth looks like the best contender.
If you haven't heard of Black Myth yet, then you're in luck: Black Myth is easily the most exciting upcoming Souls-like game, and if you can't get enough of Elden Ring, then this will be your new obsession. Many have heard of Black Myth and its beauty, but, thus far, gameplay reveals have been sparse. This changes now - we finally got some new Black Myth: Wukong gameplay.
New Black Myth: Wukong Gameplay
The clip above says it all, but I'll repeat what we're all thinking: "Holy Crap." The visuals, the combat, the setting, the diversity, the sound... this game has AAA-quality written all over it, byt is actually coming from a Chinese indie dev by the name of Game Science. Obviously, the game runs on Unreal Engine 5 and combat-wise will offer similar combat to Elden Ring and the likes: Dodging, timed attacking, parrying... you knw the drill.
Story-wise, the game is inspired by the Journey to the West: You control Sun-Wukong, the Monkey King, as he basically combats Taoism to attain his goal of buddhahood. How closely the game sticks to the religious elements remains to be seen, as does the release date, which is not set yet. What we can be certain of, though, is that this game will come to next-gen consoles only, because... just look at it. The Switch doesn't even stand a chance.
