With CS2, a new ranking system was introduced, which includes a leaderboard to compare yourself with your friends, players in your region and gamers around the world.
Counter-Strike 2 is finally out. With it, a new ranking and rating system was introduced, to make your matchmaking experience even more unique. So let's take a look at Valve's changes for the ranking system and the introduction of the ratings scale.
CS2 Ranks & Rating System Explained
Let's start with the rankings first. In CS2's Competitive mode, you'll encounter a familiar ranking system that you know from CS:GO. Just pick your favorite map and start queuing. You will receive a unique rank for each map in the map pool.
For example, you are a certified Inferno enjoyer (hats off, good taste), you may find yourself in Global Elite for that specific map. If you dislike Vertigo and play it only when there is no other option, you might only be a Gold Nova there. But fear not, as mastering a map and improving your win rate will boost you through the ranks.
Valve, in their Counter-Strike 2: Beyond Global video, recommend Competitive mode as an ideal way to expand your map knowledge before venturing into Premier mode. With seven active duty maps to learn, it's essential to play on each map to eliminate any glaring weaknesses in your team's knowledge.
CS Rating in Premier Mode
Premier mode offers a fresh twist on competitive CS2, and it will be the pinnacle game mode for CS2. Before the match begins, players must select and ban maps. With this in mind, players should know all maps before playing Premier. If you're a fan of less popular maps like Vertigo and Ancient, you can gain an edge by banning the more frequently played ones.
Once you've triumphed in ten placement matches in Premier mode, you'll receive a CS Rating instead of a traditional rank. This numeric value represents your standing on the global Counter-Strike 2 leaderboards, pinpointing your position among the world's elite players. Your performance is measured across three leaderboards: friends list, region, and global. The categories include your overall rating, number of wins, win rate, and percentile-based ranking.
Your CS Rating is dynamic, changing after every match you play. This transparency eliminates the guesswork associated with ranking up in the old ELO system of CSGO.
The better you play in a game, the higher the Rating points you receive. If you play against opponents from a higher ELO and perform well, you'll get even more points.
Hopefully, you can climb the ranks and the leaderboards and have a lot of fun doing so. Enjoy the head-shotting and trash talking of Counter-Strike 2!
