Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a major update from CDPR, along with a new DLC expansion, as well as the upcoming next-gen version launching in 2022.
Early next year, Cyberpunk 2077 will get a major update: The game will actually run. Yay.
No, seriously, CDPR announced a "major update" early next year, along with a DLC expansion that is in development and the next-gen upgrade we know is coming next year as well. We know all of this thanks to a press release that marked the end of the 2021/2022 fiscal year. In said press release, the "major update" is confirmed to come in the first 3 months of 2022. This is huge, since Cyberpunk 2077 is also coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S some time before May next year, and current-gen owners will be glad to hear, that they're also getting an upgrade.
The other hot, hot, hot piece of news from CDPR's press release is that there is a Cyberpunk expansion coming. Though we don't have any more details on than that. Thus, it's not clear whether this expansion is the Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer we knew was coming all along, or whether it's a single-player story DLC. What we do know is that the DLC is expected to be free: CDPR promised as much, plus, with the absolute clusterf*ck that the Cyberpunk launch was, DLC is a good way to get fans back on your good side. In fact, CDPR seems to have already righted a lot of their previous wrongs, since the most recent Steam reviews on Cyberpunk are all very positive.
