Cyberpunk 2077 was a historic desaster on release but gamers seem to have come around on it. The game has received more and more positive reviews
Remember Cyberpunk 2077? Of course, you do. How could you forget one of the worst gaming releases in recent history. It was actually incredible how much the higher ups at CD Projekt f-ed up this game. When it came out, it was a buggy mess that didn't nearly deliver on any of the promises that got people so hyped in the first place.
But, things have changed since then. The game is still being patched regularly, and recently, it has gotten more and more positive reviews on platforms like Steam. So developers at CD Projekt Red can finally breathe a little easier... a tiny, little bit.
Is Cyberpunk 2077 Good Now?
Well... it's better than on release! Which is not hard, considering how the game was basically broken on most platforms. Do you remember when Sony removed the game from their store? A lot of time has passed since then and CD Projekt Red have been busting their behinds off to patch the game and get it into a better state. And it hasn't gone unappreciated, both by fans and developers.
On Steam, Cyberpunk 2077 now has an overall rating score of "Mostly Positive" and an especially good recent score of "Very Positive". 83% of almost 12,000 reviews are positive – that's pretty damn good! This stat has been pointed out by Pawel Sasko, quest designer at CD Projekt Red, on Twitter.

Oh, Pawel, we can only imagine how much it means. Yes, Cyberpunk 2077 was a horrible mess when it came out, but the last people who were responsible for that are the actual developers of the game. So in that sense, it is definitely nice to see this positive turn of events. If you think back to the abysmal release and the endless barrage of negative press that this game got, it is a minor miracle that it got here at all.
Now that most of the bugs and biggest issues are fixed, especially on PC, people can finally enjoy the game. Which is probably still not the masterpiece people hoped for, but it is a pretty good game! Gamers are still waiting for the release of the actual next-gen versions, which unfortunately has been pushed back. But honestly, after all this game has been through, more delays are probably good news. Might be too late for Keanu Reeves though, who apparently doesn't want to be in video games anymore. Can't have it all, I guess...
