Steam's new sensation Dave the Diver has taken not only the sea, but also the internet by storm – in less than two weeks it already hit the 1,000,000 players milestone. And rightfully so! Dave the Diver completely hits the sweet spot. Those who enjoyed Dredge will surely like Dave the Diver just as much, if not even more.

The game was released on June 28, 2023, which makes it just as fresh as the sushi you're about to prepare. Developed and published by Mintrocket, gamers and critics alike are delighted by Dave and his adventures.

Dave the Diver: Here's Where You Can Get It

Currently, Dave the Diver is available on Steam and has only been released for Windows and macOS. But console players don't need to throw themselves into the ocean to fulfil their diving dreams.

In the official launch trailer, it has been confirmed that Dave the Diver will be released for Nintendo Switch as well. We don't have an official date yet, but according to Mintrocket, 2023 will still be Dave's year.

Sony and Microsoft may not be as lucky, though. There's no talk yet of Dave doing his dives on PlayStation or Xbox just yet – a release for these consoles is yet to be confirmed or denied.

If controllers are not the way to play Dave the Diver, maybe this mouse is better suited.

Gameplay, Story and More

In Dave the Diver you put on your diving suit as – you guessed it – Dave... who's a diver. Dave, while doing the things divers usually do, is also catching fish for the sushi restaurant he got roped into managing.

To top it all off, there's a ton of exploration and research to do. And don't even get me started on the upgrading and crafting system because I don't know what's good for me and I simply can't stop grinding for better and better equipment or new decor for the restaurant.

Sounds busy, right? It actually isn't, in a weird way. There's always more than enough stuff to do, but nothing ever feels like a chore and with the regular updates you can get there's always new, exciting stuff to look forward to, without things becoming too much.

In-between your dives and nights at the restaurant, you'll get some pretty funny cutscenes as well. Basically, you're in for a mix of a game that shouldn't work but does: it's a management-action-adventure-role-playing-story-game.

The playtime for a normal playthrough is around 15 hours long. If you want to be really thorough in your exploration and get that sweet, sweet 100% completion, you could stretch the playtime to over 20 hours.

If my enthusiasm didn't get you, maybe the trailer will. I highly recommend checking it out!
