In this guide we will show you which world events are available in Diablo 4 and what you can expect from them.
As you play Diablo 4, you'll be faced with an endless onslaught of evil, all while exploring different regions of Sanctuary. Along the way, you may find yourself joining some ongoing battles. In this Diablo 4 World Events guide, we'll cover some random encounters that you can expect to come across.
The World Events in Diablo 4 are marked on your minimap as bright orange circles to differentiate them from main quests and sidequests. When you reach the area, the type of task and requirements will be displayed.
Keep in mind that these encounters can happen on both the overworld map and dungeons, and other players may show up while you're exploring since it's a shared world game. World Events are typically wave-based attacks that increase in difficulty and culminate in a mini-boss.
Once you complete them, you'll receive a chest of loot in addition to whatever enemies dropped. These events usually only last for a few minutes.

Diablo 4: World Events
Because Diablo 4 has a shared world, it has some MMORPG mechanics, like real-time open world Events in the form of World Bosses, Strongholds and random timed events, which are always combat-related.
Obviously, world events are a good way to quickly grind some XP or loot while on your way to the next quest marker. We don't know how many different world events there will be in the full release, but here is a list with some of the events we encountered during the beta:
Cull the Wicked | Kill all enemies and miniboss |
Waves of Darkness | Defeat as many enemy waves as possible within a time limit |
Cursed Chest | Open a chest, triggering multiple mob spawns |
Wayward Soul | Protect a blue spirit while eliminating other enemies |
Insatiable Hunger | Kill mobs linked to a central demon before they are devoured |
Caravan Under Siege | Protect survivors by defeating enemies attacking three structures |
Hold Your Ground | Protect one NPC by defeating incoming enemies |
Liberation | Free a set number of captives around the area |
Ancient Siphon | Destroy three glowing pillars by eliminating mobs in their radius |
Ancient Obelisk | Stand in four blood circles to form glyphs around the obelisk |
Rites of Ascension | Defeat a channeling enemy and an "Unascended" foe left behind |
Jar of Souls | Feed a jar with 30 souls by killing enemy mobs |
Tainted Blood Ritual | Defeat a Vampire miniboss and multiple Fangstorm mobs in the College of Light for XP and gold rewards only |
Since we have only seen the Fractured Peaks region so far, there will probably be a ton more events in the full release of Diablo 4. By the way, Strongholds can also be considered World Events, however, they are done once completed for the first time. Here is our guide on all Strongholds in Fractured Peaks.
That's all about the World Events in Diablo 4 so far. As soon as the game is fully released, we will of course update this article for you guys.
