Souls fans around the world are eagerly awaiting news about FromSoftware's new title Elden Ring. After the Souls series and Bloodborne paved the way for a popular genre and have developed a huge fanbase, the expectations for Elden Ring are pretty high. Only recently, we got a glimpse into the world of Elden Ring through a leaked gameplay clip. However, the joy was immediately ruined by bad news on Twitter, when the release of Elden Ring has been delayed. What is the new Elden Ring release date and how to sign up for the Elden Ring Network Test? Let's take a look at the latest Elden Ring news in detail!

Elden Ring Delayed: New Release Date

Elden Ring has been delayed to February 25, 2022. Originally, the game was supposed to be released on January 21, 2022.

As per the above tweet, the development team has apparently determined that the depth and strategic freedom of the game has exceeded their initial expectations, making a delay of the release date inevitable. In a nutshell, this means "Shit, we only have 3 months left? That's not going to happen, we need at least 4!" Ideally, FromSoftware will actually only need the extra month for final polishing of Elden Ring. At the very least, let's hope the delay isn't due to any major problems in development.

But wait a minute, there's more in that tweet....

Elden Ring Network Test: How To Sign Up

Yep, the same tweet announcing the delay also announced a closed network test for Elden Ring. The Elden Ring Network Test will already take place later this year in November and anyone can sign up. The Elden Ring Network Test is a pre-verification test to improve the quality of the game.

In order to have a chance to participate in the Elden Ring Network test, you need to create a Bandai Namco account, which you can then use to register for the test. All information and the terms of service can be found on the Bandai Namco website.

The Elden Ring Network Test will then take place for all eligible players at the following times:

  • Session 4: 12 p.m. - 3 p.m., November 14th 2021 CET
  • Session 5: 4 a.m - 7 a.m., November 15th 2021 CET
