Entering the world of Enshrouded can be a daunting task, given all its various systems. To simplify your experience, we've curated a guide to help you meet one of your primary day-one needs. Here is where to find salt.
Enshrouded beckons you into its world, a survival game that seamlessly weaves influences from various gaming greats. With a touch of Zelda's glider-based exploration, a dash of Minecraft's crafting and base building, and a Valheim-inspired landscape, we love the final produce (and we say as much in our Enshrouded review).

Where To Find Salt: Overview
Follow these instructions to get Salt in Enshrouded:
- Craft a pickaxe at the Blacksmith (8 x Metal Scraps, 1 x Shroud Wood).
- Go to the Egerton Salt Mine.
- Use the Pickaxe to hit salt deposits and collect salt.
And there you have it, you have collected salt in Enshrouded.
Where To Find Salt: Walkthrough
1. Craft A Pickaxe
To mine salt, you need a pickaxe. First collect these items:
- 1 x Stone: Collected by hitting rocks with bladed weapons.
- 4 x Twigs: Collected by hitting small trees with bladed weapons.
- 1 x String: Harvest three plant fibers from bushes and then open your crafting menu (press V) and select string.
Now open your crafting menu (press V) and select the standard pickaxe to create it.
If you want a slightly better pickaxe, then go to the Blacksmith with eight Metal Scraps and one piece of Shroud Wood. He can make a Scrappy Pickaxe:
Shroud Wood is gathered by hitting trees you find in the Shroud, and Metal Scraps can be gathered by destroying metallic objects in the world and looting certain enemies.
2. Go To The Egerton Salt Mine
Go to this specific location on the map, the Egerton Salt Mine, to find salt deposits:
Note: The Egerton Salt Mine is in the Shroud, so you will need to go down and mine a bit of salt at a time. Don't get greedy.
3. Mine Salt
Here is what the salt deposits look like, just hit them with your pickaxe and your character will automatically collect salt:
And voilà! You have salt.
What Can You Use Salt For In Enshrouded?
Salt isn't immediately necessary in Enshrouded, but as you get into the mid-game you will need lots of Dried Fur, and to make Dried Fur you need Animal Fur and Salt. Sadly, you can't use salt to season your food.
Congratulations! Now you can mine as much salt as you want in Enshrouded.
