Vaas from Far Cry 3 could get his own TV show or movie in the future. Here is everything you need to know about this.
Video games turned to TV shows or movies can either go incredibly wrong or well. There is literally no meh, there is just good or downright horrible. However, the prospect of yet another show based on our favorite video game is exciting and despite the anxiety that it might go the wrong way, there’s also the excitement that it’ll be a Witcher 2.0.
That’s the feeling we have when thinking about a show based on Far Cry 3’s villain Vaas.
Where did this idea even come from, you might ask? Actor Michael Mando, Vaas himself, is the driving force here. And what he told GamingBible makes us believe that this Far Cry 3 TV show or movie might actually happen.
I have been thinking about it for a while. I spoke with Ubisoft in Italy a few years ago. We had coffee and I told [them] a couple of ideas that I had for a film. And I have a couple of really great ideas I spoke about with Greg Russo who is really interested in Vaas as a character and making a film. I spoke to some writers from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul about it, and there's a lot of interest there. I’ve also spoken to producers here in Los Angeles that are interested. I think if the fans really asked for it, I feel we could give it to them, right? I think we're very close, we'll see where it goes.
Thing is… Ubisoft said that they’re not really planning on making a TV show or movie about Vaas. But see, that’s just Ubisoft. Like you see above, he also talked to several other writers and producers, and we doubt that Ubisoft would put a stop to this if they realized how much fans wanted this and how great of marketing potential this has for them… especially when they don’t even have to produce it themselves.
Free real estate, baby.
With Mando pushing so hard for this and fans obviously having his back on this project, it could still happen. You might do well to follow Mando on his Twitter if you’re down for a movie or TV project including Vaas and support him in any way you can if the topic arises again.
I know I, for one, will be turning my notifications on. I wanna see Vaas on the big screen.
