Elden Ring developer From Software are already in the final stages of development for their next new game. Let's take a look at what we already know about it.
Everyone of you knows FromSoftware, right? No? Dark Souls, Sekiro, Bloodborne, Elden Ring? Ring a bell? The Japanese studio has cult status by now and is mainly responsible for the rise of all Souls-like games. And here's the kicker: Although Elden Ring hasn't even been on the market that long, the developer seems to have a second game as good as ready.
In a recent interview with Japanese gaming website 4Gamer, FromSoftware director Hidetaka Miyazaki confirmed that the studio's next game is already in the final stages of development.
What Is FromSoftware's New Game?
According to the interview, Miyazaki was asked back in 2018, around the release of Sekiro, what the status of FromSoftware's two upcoming games was. At that time, there was no more detailed information, but we now know that the first game turned out to be Elden Ring and the second game is "currently in the final stages of development".
We didn't get any information on what exactly that game might be – which is quite a surprise since nowadays basically everything gets leaked way before an official announcement. However, there are some speculations and rumors in the gaming scene about what kind of game it could be. As some gamers assume, it could be a new Armored Core. Armored Core is a 3rd person shooter mech game series from FromSoftware, the last part of which, Armored Core V, was released in 2012.
Since Elden Ring is still quite new and will of course receive several DLC, it's very unlikely that FromSoftware is already working on the next Souls game. So it would make perfect sense for their next title to go in a different direction, especially since it's already pretty much finished. After all, they'd only be sabotaging themselves by releasing the next Souls-Like so soon after the release of Elden Ring.

It now seems to have been confirmed, that Armored Core will be the next game by FromSoftware. Avid internet sleuths have found direct hints to Armored Core on FromSoftware's website, making it clear that Armored Core could be revealed soon.
This leak comes from Reddit user u/McCullyCullen, who found that FromSoftware's website just says "armored core" in the title when you google it. We don't have more information yet, but this shows that FromSoftware is preparing their website for new information regarding the upcoming Armored Core game.

However, Miyazaki dropped another bomb in the same interview: He revealed that he is currently working as a director on yet another game, with plans to work "on a more abstract fantasy than anything we've done in the past."
