SPOILER WARNING: The Rivers of Blood is a late-game weapon and is located in one of the last major areas in Elden Ring. If you aren't done with Leyndell, the Capital City, then be warned that there will be area and boss fight spoilers in this article.
Where To Find The Rivers of Blood In Elden Ring
You can find the Rivers of Blood Katana in the Mountaintop of the Giants area, more precisely in the Church of Repose. Here's a detailed breakdown of how you get there, and we also included a screenshot further down below, to show you the exact location of the weapon.
- Unlock the Mountaintop of the Giants area
- Make your way to the "Giants' Gravepost" Site of Grace
- Go to the Church of Repose
- Fight Okina
Since the Mountaintop of the Giants is a lategame area, prepare for some tough encounters. If you have problems reaching the Church of Repose at all, consider leveling up a bit more first.
Unlock the Mountaintop of the Giants Area
Mountaintop of the Giants is one of the last major areas in the game and is locked behind story progress and the critical path through Elden Ring. In order to unlock the area, you need to defeat Morgott, the Omen King in Leyndell. After the fight, a locked pathway will open up, and you will be able to get to the Mountaintop of the Giants.
Make your way to the "Giants' Gravepost" Site of Grace
The area is one of the most linear ones in Elden Ring, so just follow the path, and eventually, you will reach the "Giant's Gravepost" Site of Grace. It is located in the east of the area, past a huge chain that to have to walk on to get past a large chasm.
Be aware that the area ahead of the chain is heavily guarded with lots of enemies. The best tactic here is to be quick – get on your horse Torrent and try to simply outrun the mobs. As soon as you've reached the other side of the chain, you should be safe.
Go to the Church of Repose
From the "Giant's Gravepost" Site of Grace, go south until you reach the Church of Repose. Once you're by the grace, you basically have two paths with one going off to the right and one being straight from your spawn point. Fight Okina
Once you're at the church, you will not be able to use Torrent anymore because you're about to be invaded by an NPC named Bloody Finger Okina. And this lovely chap has the Rivers of Blood katana that we're after! So you need to defeat him. Don't underestimate Okina: This is not a horrendously hard fight, but it is challenging, especially since he can cause the bleed effect on you which will deal a ton of damage. He is also super aggressive, but if you are quick with your dodges and meet his aggression (without overdoing it), you should be able to beat him. And then you finally have the Rivers of Blood Katana, one of the best weapons in Elden Ring!

The Rivers of Blood is one of the strongest katanas in the game, causes bleed buildup and has the amazing skill "Corpse Piler" attached to it. Here's the official description of Corpse Piler, one of our favorite skills in the game:
Forms a blade of cursed blood for repeated, interweaving successive attacks. Follow up with an additional input for further successive attacks.

- Damage type: Slash/Pierce
- Scaling: Strength E, Dexterity D, Arcane D

The Rivers of Blood is super strong, and if you run a Dex-build, you will definitely want to check this weapon out. It's also one of the strongest weapons for Arcane-build, but also doesn't require too much Arcane to be used properly. That's why it is one of the meta weapons in Elden Ring.
