The Game Awards 2022 are taking place yet again to crown the best video games of the year. This special event, often referred to as the Oscars for gaming, will honor the best video games, developers and players in the industry. Here, gamers around the globe celebrate another year of great video games and the people who make them.

The nominees of the Game Awards 2022 have finally been revealed, with some of this year's hits appearing in many categories at the same time. Here are some of the most important categories of the show.

The Game of the Year

The Game of the Year is the most important category of the whole event. It features games that provide the best experience possible in all creative and technical areas. The games that made it into this category are truly the best of the best video games in 2022. Here are the nominees:

  • Horizon Forbidden West

Sure, these games are all wonderfully made. However, two of these titles have performed particularly well at this year's game awards. Elden Ring and God of War Ragnarök were the games that got the most nominations in all 31 categories. God of War is the absolute bombshell with 10 nominations, closely followed by Elden Ring with 7.

God of War Ragnarök , Elden Ring , and Horizon Forbidden West have dominated the Game Awards of this year and even managed to always appear as a group of three in the top categories Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, Best Narrative and Best Art Direction.

Best Multiplayer

One category that also particularly shapes gaming culture these days is "Best Multiplayer", and obviously the recently released Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is one of the nominees and favorites.
