Recent rumors have suggested a release date for Gears of War 6, and it's not a lifetime away...
Gears of War has been with us for a great many years now, it's become a mainstay in the once-glorious roster of Xbox originals. But look, we're not afraid to say what we're all thinking: Gears became meh with the last couple of releases. Their Horde mode is really what kept them going, but even that lost the pure simplicity of the OG from Gears 2. It seems however, that much like Halo, and other franchises in recent years, the team behind Gears of War are going back to the drawing board and trying to figure out what it was that fans first fell in love with. And now Gears 6, is finally peaking over the horizon.
When is Gears of War 6 being released?
According to Rand al Thor 19 (a known insider/leaker), in the XNC podcast, he heard from an associate at Microsoft that Gears of War 6 is coming in 2024/2025, after the release of a new IP from Coalition in 2023. Wow, didn't expect that, did you. Two pieces of news for the price of one. Unfortunately, we don't know anything about this new IP, but it's going to be Triple-A if it's coming out of this studio. Naturally, we'll let you know as soon as we know about the mysterious new IP.
And with any new Gears of War game inevitably comes the conversation:
What do we know about Gears of War 6?
Sadly, we know very little about Gears of War 6, outside the general plans for this to be a reboot in the style of Halo Infinite or Modern Warfare (2019). In other words, they're not focusing on perfecting what they're known for, and returning to a solid identity. Yes please! No more open world nonsense for us please.
Maybe until then, one of the 2022 games can keep you entertained.
