Genshin Impact just revealed the newest drip marketing for two of its Fontaine characters. One of them might have proven a shocking theory right, and it makes the lore even cooler than it already is.
Genshin Impact's official Twitter account just posted the drip marketing of Wriothesley and Neuvilette! That means that we can expect them to be the next new characters to get released. This is huge news, since one of the announcements further proves an assumption that the community made before.
Genshin Impact: Wriothesley And Neuvilette Got Revealed
Let's start with Wriothesley: We have official confirmation that he will be a Cryo user. With the information we got in the announcement, we could also assume that he is playing on the side of humanity instead of Celestia, since Callas says he is "far more worldly than he looks". His official title is "Duke" and he works as an Administrator of the Fortress Meropide.

Now, I am personally more excited for Neuvilette. Hoyoverse explicitly censors the place where "Vision" should stand and only reveals he is a Hydro user. His constellation also doesn't get revealed, and normally, the constellation reveals which animal or magical being the character is connected to.
That's pretty suspicious if you ask me. Now, this could mean many different things, but one thing is for sure: Neuvilette isn't human. Or at least not a normal one.

Some Theories About Neuvilette's Identity
There are a few theories about his identity: One of them is that he is from Khaenri'ah. Fans think this could be a very real possibility as his eyes are star-shaped, just like the characters that are confirmed to descend from there, like Kaeya.
This would imply that Khaenri'ah managed to control the Elements without the blessing of Celestia, explaining further why the Heavens decided to destroy the ancient city. Still, this makes us question how Neuvilette managed to not only survive and outlive the cataclysm, but also climb the ranks to become an extremely influential person in Fontaine, working as a right-hand man to its Archon? Even though Kaeya is in a similar situation, he doesn't hold nearly as much power and is still severely distrusted.
Another theory is that Neuvilette is Focalors' "pet". We have seen a pattern of all the Archons having some kind of familiar with them, and we know that they can turn into a humanoid form (thanks yae) and that they yield the same element as their Archon, both are the case with Neuvilette.
If so, then a popular theory suggest he could be a Vishap because of his similar character design. I personally don't think this is the case, since Zhongli's pet is already a vishap, but we shouldn't rule anything out. My theory is that he is an Oceanid, maybe even the Lord of them.
We know from Rhodeia of Loch that the Lochfolk got banished from their homeland, and since they are Hydro beings, this must be Fontaine. There also seems to be a fraction of Oceanids that are loyal to the Hydro Archon, and it would make sense that they get political power in return for their loyalty.

We can't be sure if any of these are actually true, but given the new circumstances this could very well be true. The good thing is that the waiting for answers won't last any longer with the new version of Genshin arriving August 16.
