Voice actors of Genshin Impact have revealed their frustrations over delayed payment from developer HoYoVerse to a point where they are even struggling to pay rent.
Genshin Impact has achieved tremendous success since its release. Launched in September 2020, the game quickly became a hit, earning an estimated $2 billion in its first year and now allegedly making about $86 million per month.
Hard to imagine that even when you're employed for such a massive IP, the paycheck might not always come on time. Despite the game's massive earnings, two actors, Corina Boettger and Brandon Winckler, revealed on Twitter that they haven't been paid for months.
Genshin Impact Voice Actors Speak Out On Payment Delays
The two Genshin Impact voice actors Corina Boettger and Brandon Winckler have recently spoken up about the payment delay that they're experiencing while employed at HoYoVerse.
After a fifth email with no response, This is regarding Genshin Impact. Inexcusable for us as actors to be waiting 4+ months for pay when you make $86 million per month. Unfortunately, this is not an uncommon problem- (thread) https://t.co/BPBW3WibG9

Despite sending multiple emails, Winckler hasn't received any response regarding his payment, which has been pending for over four months. Now their only option was to expose the matter on Twitter.
And this is not the only case. Corina Boettger, who voices the character Paimon in the English version of the game, probably the role with the most voice lines in the entire game, has reported similar issues. Both actors are openly discussing this matter, and Boettger even mentioned struggling to pay rent due to the delayed payment.
Again... been working for MONTHS unpaid on a BIG project for a studio. I am owed THOUSANDS of dollars. I am struggling currently to pay rent because of this. This project has made BILLIONS. This project should be Union.

It is completely unacceptable and absurd for a highly profitable game like Genshin Impact to have such payment delays.
