It was announced that GoldenEye would be making its appearance on the Switch with online play, Xbox quietly announced their own, better verison of the game.
GoldenEye is making a comeback, celebrating 25 years of peak gameplay. You're going to be able to play the game on your Nintendo Switch with the Switch Online Expansion, but it was also revealed that the game would be coming to Xbox Game Pass... but better.
What exactly is going to make the Xbox version far superior over the previous version or even the one coming to the Nintendo Switch? Well, let's check it out.
GoldenEye Getting Visual Overhaul for Xbox
While Nintendo announced that GoldenEye would be coming to the Nintendo Switch with online services, Rare, the studio that made the game back in 1997 announced on Twitter that Xbox would also be releasing a version of GoldenEye for Xbox Game Pass.
Rare, now owned by Microsoft, released the game 25-years ago and when whispers of a remake were afloat, many were wondering whether this would be an Xbox exclusive. Well, turns out it wasn't, but the Xbox players do get a few extra goodies according to Rare.
25 years after its original release, experience GoldenEye 007 faithfully recreated for Xbox consoles. Includes achievements, 4K resolution and a smoother framerate – even in split-screen local multiplayer!
While the Xbox version won't have online multiplayer, you will have split screen multiplayer so you can invite your friends over for a gaming session whichc ould be fun. Graphics will also be improved and look much better. All things the Nintendo Switch version of the game won't have since it'll just be ported from the original with miminal changes.
GoldenEye Remaster Release Date
Neither the Nintendo Switch, nor the Xbox version of the game have a release date yet. So you're going to have to wait patiently to find out more when you'll be able to play whichever version you're going to go with – but let's be real the Xbox version just looks better.
- Just play some GTA 6 instead, right?
So stay patient and soon you'll be able to have GoldenEye on your Xbox game pass! Or you can just get it to play online for the Switch, since the Xbox version won't have any online play, apparently.
Now this isn't about GoldenEye, but we do have to bring up this serious subject:
