Everyone thought that Warner Brother's was done making Batman games. But WB Games Montreal surprised us all by announcing Gotham Knights in 2020. Now that two years have passed, what do we know about Gotham Knights?
Will Batman return? Is the dark knight dead? These are questions we’ll get answers to once WB Games Montreal has released Gotham Knights to the current and next-generation consoles. However, what’s known about this game, and when can you expect it to release? Let me tell you.

New Gameplay Revealed
Warner Bros. has published a new gameplay video, showing off some more of the cool action in the game. This new video is around 13 minutes long and focuses on two of the characters in the game: Nightwing and Red Hood.
In the video, you can see some of that delicious Arkham action that we love and miss so much. It also shows off the brand-new coop gameplay, which you can read more on below. What they show here looks super cool and gets us even more hyped for Gotham Knights. If you want to know more about the game, read the rest of this article to see all details and info.

More DC Games In The Future
Following the fusion between Warner Media and Discovery, the company intends to strengthen the presence of its DC brand in various areas. Among them, video games. They are now looking for a capable person to implement the whole thing in a radical way. Similar to what Kevin Feige did for the Marvel universe. According to the report, a revival of Superman is also part of it. With Gotham Knights from WB Games Montreal, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League from Rocksteady Studios and Wonder Woman from Monolith Productions, three games from the DC universe are already in the works.
We'll see if that's good. One or two games every few years was great. But you can now see with Marvel how over saturated the market is and how you have absolutely no desire for a game from them. Hopefully DC doesn't make the same mistake. We are still looking forward to the game.

When Is Gotham Knights Coming Out?
Gotham Knights will come out on October 21, as was announced on the official Twitter account. Fans have been wondering when the game will come out, as it has been delayed multiple times and the developers have been pretty quiet about it for a while. Some were even worried that it wouldn't happen in 2022 after all, as they clearly need a long time to finish the game and polish it to a great degree. But don't worry, it will come out this year, in around half a year, actually. How exciting!
We are genuinely hyped for this game. It looks like a continuation of the incredible Arkham formula, but this time with Co-Op. And who doesn't love Co-Op? I'll be Nightwing (get lost, Robin), you'll be Batgirl, and we will have an amazing time in October, when we finally get to play Gotham Knights. The Characters In Gotham Knights
I’m intrigued to see how WB Games Montreal uses its four main characters. Will these characters participate in the same missions together? Or will they play separately? I hope we’ll phase between characters similarly to Grand Theft Auto. That would create a unique dynamic that sees different combat capabilities being used across multiple characters. It’s what I’m hoping for most with Gotham Knights. But until more gameplay footage is shown, here’s what you can expect from the four main characters.
- Robin: Tim Drake is an expert fighter skilled in stealth and quarterstaff combat. He’d become trained by Batman before dawning the mantle of Robin. However, Robin believes that Gotham needs a superhero and should move away from vigilantism. I’ll be interested to see how Tim Drake is affected by Nightwing, Red Hood, and Bat Girl.
- Nightwing: Dick Grayson was Robin before Tim Drake. After becoming a superhero worthy of standing alongside Batman, he'd dismiss the position. Unlike other characters, creating close bonds has become the standpoint for Dick Grayson. But how will those bonds play out in Gotham Knight?
- Red Hood: I’m expecting most players to favor Red Hood, as Jason Todd is considered a violent and destructive superhero that doesn’t hesitate at killing his enemies. It’s a trait that no other character maintains in Gotham Knights. But I’ll probably lean towards playing as Nightwing or Robin.
- Batgirl: There isn’t another character with more determination and willpower than Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Jim Gordon. She becomes the Batgirl after her father passes away from protecting Gotham City. But can she honor his death by saving Gotham? We’ll find out in 2022.
Is Gotham Knights Getting Released Onto Xbox And PC?
I’m happy to report that Gotham Knights is launching for the Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PlayStation4, PlayStation5, and PC. There isn’t any information regarding these consoles being cross-compatible with multiplayer co-op, but I wouldn’t get my hopes up for this feature. WB Games Montreal will be prioritizing the storyline for Gotham Knights and not the multiplayer modes.
Is Gotham Knights Part Of The Game Pass On Xbox?
There’s a good chance that Microsoft and Warner Brothers will partner together to launch Gotham Knights onto the Game Pass. However, that partnership won’t be made for some time into the future. That’s because revenue margins will be considered heavily before Gotham Knights are made available for automatic download. Plus, PlayStation is introducing its version of Game Pass in 2022. It could be that Gotham Knights is provided to PlayStation’s service over Microsoft’s. But that’s rather unexpected for now.
Everything We Know About Gotham Knights So Far | Features & Story Mode
WB Games Montreal has developed chaotic alleyways that will lead players to Gotham’s various neighborhoods. We’re promised an expansive open world that could rival Assassin's Creed Valhalla. However, don’t expect to explore the Batcave. It’s been presumably destroyed since Batman was killed. Instead, Belfry has been selected as the home base for these four characters.
We’ll be capable of customizing this home base from the ground up. It was the coolest feature I’d noticed about Gotham Knights. But I’m wondering if Gotham Knights could launch with in-game microtransactions for your base of operations. It wouldn’t be the first time Warner Brother’s has implemented microtransactions for a Batman game. But I’d prefer this feature to be removed, as unlocking everything through challenges and in-game missions would be more enjoyable for me.
Despite my reservations regarding the home base in Gotham Knights, I’m excited about the upcoming storyline. There won’t be any storyline connections to the comic books, meaning that WB Games Montreal is free to develop whatever narrative they’d like without limitations.
Trailer footage identified some antagonists we’ll meet throughout this game. Most notably, the Court of Owls is being developed as the primary antagonists. We’ll have secondary antagonists like Mr Freeze. However, additional enemies we’ll face haven’t been identified yet. I’m hoping that Harley Quinn or the Joker could make unexpected appearances. There would be significant tension between Batgirl and the Joker, while Nightwing would battle against Harley Quinn.
Separate from the storyline and possibility of microtransactions, Gotham Knights is being developed with multiplayer co-op gameplay. WB Games Montreal wants us to experience Gotham Knights with our closest friends. However, players can experience this title through an offline setting. We aren’t required to participate in the multiplayer co-op mode, but we’ll want to, because each character has different powers and combat capabilities. For instance, Red Hood will likely rush his opponents and attack them head-on. But characters like Batgirl and Robin could retain stealth-like powers.
Ahead of the October 21 release, the trophy list for Gotham Knights leaked. There are obviously some spoilers in this, but it does offer a good look at what players will get to do in their return to Gotham.
Is Gotham Knights Changing Up The Gameplay Formula?
You shouldn’t expect significant differences between Gotham Knights and Arkham franchises. WB Games Montreal has confirmed they’ve continued onwards with the brawler-styled gameplay. However, I anticipate gameplay differences between this upcoming title and the former series. Why might you ask? Gotham Knights isn’t considered a direct sequel to the Arkham franchise. In turn, WB Games Montreal can innovate the gameplay in various ways. You can bet Gotham Knights will replicate multiple features from Spider-Man: Miles Morales. I’m expecting the combat between those two games to look identical. But that isn’t a bad thing!
Game Trailer And Demo
I’ve seen the gameplay footage for Gotham Knights, and wow, we’re in for an incredible experience. Each character seemed unique in their capabilities and storyline. Plus, the environments seemed bursting with energy. We’ve never seen Gotham like this before, and that ahs me excited. You never know; this might just become my favorite game of 2022.
