GTA 6 has officially been announced by Rockstar. No more wondering, folks... it's happening.
Today's the day: Rockstar has officially confirmed GTA 6 on Twitter. Is this surprising? No, not at all. We knew GTA 6 was coming all along, or else all our coverage would have been a bit... weird.
Still, to hear – or rather read – Rockstar actually confirming that they're working on GTA 6 is reassuring. But, don't take my word for it, here it is:
GTA 6 Confirmed By Rockstar
Many of you have been asking about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series. With every new project, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we've previously delivered. We're pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the series is underway.

Rockstar sharply recognized that we've been asking about GTA 6 for a while. I don't know what gave it away, maybe us speculating on the game's release date, or wondering about the protagonist, or being obsessed about where the game might be set...? Possibly. Anyways, they were graceful enough to finally let us know that GTA 6 is happening. Beyond that, they couldn't let the opportunity go by, without some corporate bla-bla, that, and I quote... roughly: "Every new entry is meant to be better than the last"... whatever, been there, heard that. Plus, we know Rockstar delivers anyway.
In a follow-up tweet, Rockstar mentions that they are looking forward to sharing more news as soon as they become available.
Again, nothing here is really surprising, since it's also safe to assume that GTA 7 and GTA 8 will happen, but there is still something about a game developer finally confirming a game that we've been speculating about for as long as this website has existed.
