The remastered GTA trilogy is so trash that Rockstar are offering buyers free copies of GTA 5. It's something, I guess?
Sometimes Rockstar doing so well it feels like they'll never be beaten. We can all remember how well the reviews for Red Dead Redemption 2 were, and GTA Online is still bringing them silly amounts of money. But then something like the GTA: Trilogy Remastered happens, and we're forced to question everything. How could they have released something in this state? It's Rockstar, they're supposed to be the definition of quality. But it happened, and we've been stung. We've learned our lesson. Is GTA 5 enough of an apology to heal those wounds? Would it be enough to motivate you to spend good money on the Trilogy? Rockstar are hoping it will...
How do you get GTA 5 for free?
To get GTA 5 for free you need to buy the GTA: Trilogy Remastered from the Rockstar store. We don't yet know about previous buyers, unfortunately, but there's a good chance they too might be included in the deal at a later point. This is all part of the Rockstar holiday sale:

Is this enough to tempt you? We've got no beef with Rockstar, but we do want to remind you guys that GTA 5 is no expensive and the GTA Trilogy was complete trash.
There was so much hype about the GTA Trilogy at the time, luckily we had our heads screwed on properly, and we could see the disaster coming. Hence, this cheeky video has aged like wine:
How long do you still have to get GTA 5 for free?
You have until January 5 at 8:59 pm PST (11:59 pm ET) to buy the Grand Theft Auto: Trilogy Remastered from the Rockstar Store in order to be able to claim a free copy of GTA 5. So you've got a decent amount of time to spend that Christmas cash, but be warned, the GTA Trilogy is...well...judge for yourself.
