Will GTA 6 Be Set In Tokyo?

The discussion of where GTA 6 will be set is always divisive; should it be the East Coast? Should it be the West Coast? Hold on. What about a country that's not even America? What about Japan.

So GTA 6 is actually happening. I know it feels a world a way, and having GTA Online for so long sort of makes you forget that Rockstar need to make a new game one day. But they do (Red Dead Undead Nightmares 2 won't keep us happy forever), and the first question on a lot of fans' minds is obvious: where will GTA 6 be set? Could itChicago? Could it Puerto Rico? Or could it be... Japan!

Rockstar's Interest In Japan

Rockstar have been found sending researchers to Japan for decades now. That part is no secret; hardcore Rockstar fans have known about the devs interest in Japan since the early 2000s, in fact. And it makes sense, imagine a densely urban environment with a new aesthetic, different from those we've seen in North America. The Yakuza, karaoke bars, and neon lit alleyways - Tokyo has the makings of an incredible GTA environment. In December 2003, Take-Two Interactive actually filed trademarks for GTA: Tokyo and GTA: Bogotá. Long since forgotten projects...or are they?

We can neither confirm nor deny Japan as a setting at this point, but all we want to say is this: keep an eye on all GTA news over the coming months. A little birdie told us this isn't so far-fetched as you might think.

If you're sick and tired of how much attention GTA gets, and you're looking for the GTA-killer, then maybe this is the game for you...

Where else do people think GTA will be set?

Most people at this point are of the belief that GTA 6 will be set in Florida, with Cuba and Guarma acting as secondary open-world locations, accessible in parts of the campaign. But we're not going to dig into those rumors here, that's just one of a great many competing theories. Anyway, we did a full write-up for you guys here.
