In Hogwarts Legacy, dark magic will be available for everyone who wants to terrorize their fellow Hogwarts students. Here's everything we know about the unforgivable curses, torture and dark arts in the Harry Potter RPG.
In Harry Potter, we followed the adventures of the good guys, and we all had a great time with it. But secretly, we all wanted a taste of that dark magic. Just admit it. And while that definitely won't be a major reason for people to play Hogwarts Legacy on release, players will surely be excited to hear that the dark arts will actually be in the game.
Hogwarts Legacy Dark Magic – Unforgivable Spells & More Confirmed
A recent gameplay showcase for Hogwarts Legacy confirmed that you will be able to use dark magic in the game among the many spells in Hogwarts Legacy, namely the unforgivable spells Avada Kedavra, Crucio and Imperio. This is obviously a big deal. Avada Kedavra is literally deadly, Crucio lets you torture folks. That's, understandably, not very cool of you.
According to a big leak of Hogwarts Legacy details, it looks like you will only get these curses later in the game. You will most likely be able to try them out in the Dark Arts Battle Arena, which is a pre-order bonus. Whether there will be any consequences for using these curses, let alone some kind of morality system, is unclear. But so far it doesn't look like there will be.
Hogwarts Legacy Official Rating Confirms Dark Themes & Content
Hogwarts Legacy has been officially rated as 16+ by PEGI. Which means that the game contains the following:
This rating is applied once the depiction of violence (or sexual activity) reaches a stage that looks the same as would be expected in real life. The use of bad language in games with a PEGI 16 rating can be more extreme, while the use of tobacco, alcohol or illegal drugs can also be present.
Now, we're certain that this game won't have drugs, tobacco or sexual activity. That wouldn't be in keeping with the books as written. Butterbeer perhaps, that's quite believable in fact. But while alcohol might be present in the game, it's almost certainly going to be the case that realistic violence is the reason Hogwarts Legacy has been rated 16+.
We know that you can kill and torture, but how graphic will that be? Are there other kinds of violence in the game, or even darker forms of magic? We are not sure yet, but we're definitely interested to see how this plays out in the game.
