Hogwarts Legacy is here – but if you want to play it on Nintendo Switch, you have to show some extra patience, since on last-gen consoles Hogwarts Legacy has different release dates. Here's when you'll be able to play the Harry Potter game on Nintendo Switch.
After being delayed multiple times, Hogwarts Legacy (Review) is finally here since February 2023. Unfortunately, the Harry Potter game is currently only available on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. But Hogwarts Legacy is also planned to be released on the Nintendo Switch as well, and here's when it's coming.
As mentioned, the old-gen versions take a bit longer to come out. There is another split here, as PS4 and Xbox One players will get the game on a different date from Switch owners.
Hogwarts Legacy made its debut in February on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. In April, the PS4 and the Xbox One versions followed. So only the Switch is still missing.
Unfortunately, we'll have to wait a little longer. In early March, Warner Bros. revealed that "to deliver the best possible experience on all platforms" [...] "we need more time to do this". As a result, the release of the PS4 and Xbox One version of Hogwarts Legacy was delayed to May 5, 2023.
Hogwarts Legacy: Nintendo Switch Release Date
It was already clear for a long time that those of you who are looking to play the game on the Nintendo Switch will have to wait a tad longer than the rest: The release for the Nintendo Switch was originally scheduled for July 25, 2023.
Unfortunately, now it turns out that we'll have to wait even longer. The Hogwarts Legacy staff now revealed that to deliver the "best possible experience", they will need more time. As a result, the release of Hogwarts Legacy on Nintendo Switch will be delayed to November 14, 2023 - which means that it will release about 4 months later than planned.
Hogwarts Legacy launches on Nintendo Switch on 11/14/23. We know fans are looking forward to playing on Switch, therefore creating the best possible experience is our top priority. Thank you for your patience.Available now on PS5 & PS4, Xbox X|S & Xbox One, and PC. pic.twitter.com/nADIeNbMvw

So, the developers have explained the reasoning behind the delay. They want to make the experience the best they possibly can for every single gamer out there. And looking at the recent releases of The Last of Us Part 1 and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, we're more happy than sad to hear that, since we prefer playing a full game and not one in a late beta status.
Initially, Hogwarts Legacy was supposed to be released back in 2021, but it has been pushed back on multiple occasions. Since its release in mid-February, millions of players finally entered Hogwarts and got up to some mischief in the grand halls of the world-famous school of witchcraft and wizardry.
