Honkai Star Rail's release back in April 2023 was definitely a huge event for all gatcha game lovers. Especially the new characters have impressed many players immediately and a new main was found quickly! But do we really know all about the little tips and tricks of our favorite units?
Don't worry! I won't tell you how to play your main correctly since I'm sure you know that much better than me anyway. However, there are a couple of units, who have super useful mechanics, which not every Star Rail players necessarily knows about!
Let's take a look at five characters in particular and maybe, there are some tips and tricks you haven’t heard of by now as well!
The more you know!
Honkai Star Rail: 5 Characters With Hidden Mechanics
There are probably much more hidden tricks than the few that are listed down below, however some of them aren't really that effective and there will never be a fitting situation to use them.
That's why we've put together some actually useful advice that might save your next Simulated Universe run from being interrupted unintentionally.
Let's start this list (not a ranking) off with a bit of a controversial one, shall we?
#5 Luocha
Disclaimer: This tip is useful to everyone who does not have “Echos Of The Coffin”.
Have you ever considered using a 3-Star Light Cone? — Probably not, am I right? Well maybe you should start looking through your Light Cone Inventory and pray that you kept at least one S5 version of everything!
If you are lucky, you will find at least one copy of “Multiplication” in your little backpack! But why would this weapon have any purpose at all? — The solution is pretty simple and is called: Denizens of Abundance.
This 3-Star Light Cone's passive, called “Denizens of Abundance”, is much better than you would expect it to be, considering the tier of said weapon and it synergieses exceptionally well with Luocha's kit. The wearer of said Light Cone, will have their next action advanced forward by 12% after performing a Basic ATK. (Which you should do with Luocha all the time!) If you have this weapon at S5, the effect increases to 20%!
This is a huge buff for a healer like Luocha & the weapon's base stats aren’t too bad as well since he has amazing base stats anyway.
#4 Qingque
A pretty small but neat mechanic with Qingque can be achieved by switching up your rotation just a tiny bit! The biggest mistake a lot of players make when using Qingque is the Ultimate timing!
With her Skill, Qingque enhances her next normal ATK, which can be stacked up multiple times. However, said ATK buff can be transferred to your Ultimate damage as well! Means, you have to first stack up your enhanced basic ATK without using it. When you check our buff overview in battle, you will find the “Hidden Hand” state, which increases your ATK up to 72%! (This is incredibly high!) Then use your Ultimate and THEN you can cast your enhanced basic.
If you use your spells in that order, the “Hidden Hand” buff will be active during your Ultimate and your enhanced basic ATK simultaneously.
Who doesn’t love 72% more damage?!
#3 Serval
This one is a rather quick, yet effective tip! (Especially for all you Kafka-havers!)
Not many players are still using Serval at this point in the game even though she was given to us for free at the very beginning of Honkai Star Rail. And despite being around for quite some time now, there is one detail about Serval's kit, which many players have missed so far.
Serval is actually a super useful teammate for Kafka and there is a simple reason why! — Serval can extend the duration of any Shock debuff (DoT), which is applied to an enemy, by two turns. This tiny yet incredibly strong feature of her is often overlooked since it's merely the passive of her Ultimate ability.
If you want to get a better understanding of the damage over time (DoT) and debuffing system in Honkai Star Rail, check out this article:
This is your chance to start building your Serval right now and maximize Kafka's damage.
#2 Welt
Welt is another character, many of us have at this point of the game, by pulling on the standard banner or simply losing your 50/50.
Many players noticed, that Welt is far more capable of dealing solid amounts of damage than we originally thought right after the game's release. However, if you want to play your Welt to the fullest extent of his capabilities, hitting the perfect timing for your abilities is probably the most crucial part.
Especially against bosses or enemies with multiple attacks in their attack pattern, it is important to use Welt's Ultimate right after your opponent’s first attack. Be careful to not miss your chance, since there may be a pretty small window for said opportunity.
However, if you do hit said sweet spot and Welt's “Imprison” hits, it'll cut off the rest of the boss' actions and sends him to the back of the turn order with the imprisonment delay and speed reduction applied.
#1 Dan Heng IL
Last but not least, we have a pretty small yet significant tip for Dan Heng IL!
Since many players have pulled for him, I bet a lot of you guys can make use of that trick! Did you know, that Dan Heng IL's enhanced ATK still counts as a basic ATK? This is super important to know when facing the for example “Abundance Sprite: Malefic Ape” who can reduce the damage output of your Skills. Luckily, that means Dan Heng IL is not affect by this super annoying debuff!
And? Did you know all of these mechanics already, or could we help you out at least a little? The one I always overlooked was Qingque's Ultimate interaction and my Star Rail life got much easier after finding out about this trick.
