Honkai Star Rail: Topaz & Numby – Best Build, Light Cones & Team Comp
First, let's see how you obtain Topaz. Topaz' limited banner will be available during the second half of version 1.4, right after Jingliu's banner ended. Topaz is a 5-Star character, who follows the path of The Hunt and deals fire damage!
Topaz is the Senior Manager of the Strategic Investment Department in the Interastral Peace Corporation, and leader of the Special Debts Picket Team. With her partner Numby, she discovers crimes, collects debts and finds treasures! No one is safe when Topaz and Numby are on guard!

Topaz Best Build
In order to make your build as good as possible, you should always aim to give your character a 4-piece set along with a 2-piece set! However, there are some units, who do not profit off of the 4-piece effect and three 2-piece sets could a much better choice.
Topaz is one of them, who works much better with three 2-piece sets and in addition to that, it is so much easier to farm and build! Although hitting these lucky rolls proofs to be difficult …
Relic Set #1
This is by far her best Relic option:
- 2-piece: Firesmith of Lava-Forging
- 2-piece: Musketeer of Wild Wheat
- 2-piece: Inert Salsotto
Let's take a look at which sub stats Topaz wants!
Best Stats for Topaz
The right (sub)stats are just as crucial as the correct set! Aim for the following stats:
1. Body: Crit Rate% / Crit DMG%
2. Boots: SPD / ATK%
3. Planar Sphere: Elemental DMG / ATK%
4. Link Rope: ATK% / Break Effect%
5. Overall (sub)stat priority: Crit Rate / Crit DMG → ATK% → SPD → ATK → Break Effect%

Topaz Light Cones
Generally speaking, Hunt characters do not have the best Light Cone options as of right now, which means you should really aim for the ones we are about to show you!

5-Star Light Cones
1. Topaz' signature Light Cone
Whenever a new 5-Star character gets released, HoYoverse also brings out a signature Light Cones to fit the new unit's play style. Unfortunately, the name of Topaz' signature weapon is still unknown but what we do know, is the Cone's effect! Spoiler Alert: This thing is so OP.
Topaz's signature Light Cone has the following effect:
- Increases Crit DMG of the wearer and increases damage dealt by follow-up attacks as well. After the wearer casts an attack, if it hits an enemy target that was previously hit in their previous attack, they will gain one layer of “Vitality Food”. If it hits another enemy, the stack of “Vitality Food” will drop. Each stack of “Vitality Food” will increase the wearer’s ATK, and the effect can be stacked up a couple of times.
Looks to be an excellent weapon to grind down bosses!
2. Sleep Like the Dead
Even though “In the Night” is overall considered to be the best Hunt weapon, in this case, Yanqing's Light Cone seems to be a tiny bit better! Even if the SPD from Seele's weapon is super useful, the Crit and ATK stats from “Sleep Like the Dead” are much more valuable on Topaz.
Sleep Like the Dead has the following effect:
- Increases the wearer's CRIT DMG by 30%. When the wearer's Basic ATK or Skill does not result in a CRIT Hit, increases their CRIT Rate by 36% for 1 turn. This effect can be only triggered 1 time every 3 turn(s). (S1)
Let's look at some much more affordable options!
4-Star Light Cones
1. Swordplay
If you ask me what the coolest and most universal Light Cone for Hunt characters is, I would always recommend “Swordplay” to you! This 4-Star weapon provides just a bunch of raw damage, which is basically all Hunt character wants, right?
Swordplay has the following effect:
- For each time the wearer hits the same target, DMG dealt increases by 8%, stacking up to 5 time(s). This effect will be dispelled when the wearer changes targets. (S1)
Again, a perfect weapon against bosses!
2. River Flows in Spring
To be fair, “River Flows in Spring” is a pretty unique weapon. However, I think Topaz can definitely make use of its stats! Especially if you lack SPD, this Light Cone could be a viable option in order to round up Topaz' build! Make sure to have a tank, who can taunt enemies, in your team if you want to use this Light Cone.
River Flows in Spring has the following effect:
- After entering battle, increases the wearer's SPD by 8% and DMG by 12%. When the wearer takes DMG, this effect will disappear. This effect will resume after the end of the wearer's next turn. (S1)
After we got Topaz' build set, what team should we play her in?
Topaz Team Comp
Topaz is another DPS unit, which means you can build SO many teams with her! The following teams are examples, and you can always switch out units you don't have for others who have the same role within a team. Let's start off with something a little special:
Mono Fire
After we had mono Lightning when Jing Yuan got released, we recently discovered mono Quantum after Fu Xuan's banner was live. Now, onto the next mono team: Fire!
I really don't know why, but I really enjoy playing mono element teams! (So satisfying …)
Asta is probably Topaz' best buffer when it comes to pure damage output, however if you struggle with SPD, you can replace Asta with Tingyun! (Or you try out the next team!)
Topaz Hypercarry
Since Topaz is a DPS, you can definitely build a team around her and make her your hypercarry! I chose to pair her up with Fu Xuan and Lynx, since they are work super well together and if you pulled for Fu Xuan, the possibility that you already have Lynx is pretty high!
