GTA Online and GTA 5 just made the jump to the PS5, and the online game can be copped for free right now, and here's how to get it.
How is it still exciting that a 10-year-old game is available for free? Insane, right? Yet, this is the reality we live in - we hear that the upgraded GTA 5 is free on the PS5, and we get excited. Simple. If only everything in the world was that simple...
How To Get GTA Online For Free On PS5
GTA Online was already available for free for PS Plus subscribers, and now Sony has doubled down on that, making the upgraded PS5 version free too. Even better, you don't need PS Plus to download GTA Online for free - you'll get a limited time trial to play the game for free. To be more exact, you will get seven days to try the game without PS Plus. You can also get GTA Online for free as a standalone game until June 14, but that offer comes without the PS Plus bonus, so you'd still have to pay for that to actually play the game.
If you're wondering about what you're saving here - PS Plus costs either $60 a year or $10 a month, but if you're playing GTA Online, you'll be sinking more than that into the game anyway.
If you do take advantage of the seven-day offer, do remember that it's ultimately a PS Plus trial, meaning that it will automatically renew after seven days - so don't forget to cancel if you want to stay on the money-saving side.
To claim the free offer, simply download the standalone GTA Online version for free, and follow the prompts to claim your free PS Plus subscription.
