Assassin’s Creed Red is still a big mystery. However, a new leak shed some light on what we can expect from AC in Japan and when the game is set to release.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is about to release on October 7, promising players a return to the series’ roots. We already know what Ubisoft has in store for us afterward: Assassin’s Creed Codename Red, which will make good on what fans expected for years and bring the AC games to Japan. Not much more is known about the game so far. However, a new leak by Insider Gaming reveals some details about the game’s gameplay, how the multiple characters will differ and when we can expect the game to release.
Leak: Assassin’s Creed Red To Come Out Next Year And Feature New Gameplay Systems
According to the report, Assassin’s Creed Red is set to release during Holiday 2024. However, this release window is not set in stone yet and could be pushed back.
Red is set to feature two playable characters, similar to Syndicate. One of them is a male Samurai, while the other character is a female Shinobi.
The Samurai is allegedly an African refugee and seems therefore to be based on Yasuke, who is said to be the first African Samurai in history (and who got an awesome Netflix show as well). More details about the Shinobi are not known yet.
However, Insider Gaming claim that the characters are going to play differently from each other. Makes sense, but it’s interesting to hear that the Shinobi will be more agile and that the gameplay with her will “take some features from the Splinter Cell series”. This is supposed to include using shadows and extinguishing lights to keep areas dark.
Another new feature, which I assume will come more into play with the combat-focused Samurai, is destructible environments. We don’t expect full Battlefield style destruction, but being able to tear through buildings and actually feel the impact of your actions sounds really dope.
AC Red is expected to launch in late 2024 for PC, PS5 and XBX/S, with new official reveals set to happen early next year.
