You want to play Lethal Company but suffer a lot because of arachnophobia? Then you are lucky! Through the latest update the devs added an arachnophobia mode in the coolest way possible.
Lethal Company is a co-op horror game that has taken the world by storm. However, if you suffer from arachnophobia, then you will understandably be concerned about playing it. After all, most horror games invariably include spiders at some point.
Here is an overview of how bad the spiders are in this game, how you can avoid or even fight them, and what the current mod situation is like for Lethal Company. Previously the situation looked rather grim, but through the latest Lethal Company update to version 45 the devs added an arachnophobia mod!
Lethal Company Arachnophobia Mode: How To Activate It
This mod has been heavily requested by the Lethal Company community since the in-game spiders are the stuff of nightmares Here is how to enable it:
- Go to the Settings in the game
- On the lower part of the right screen, you'll find the "Accessibility" option
- Check the box next to arachnophobia mode to replace the Spiders in the game
The devs' creative solution for replacing the spider model is simply genius! Instead of the scary spider, you now see the word 'Spider' with tiny legs - brilliant!
Lethal Company: How To Avoid "Spiders"
If you want to avoid spiders, or even fight them, then here are some helpful tips for dealing with them in Lethal Company:
- The Spider-type monsters in this game are called "Bunker Spiders".
- They will only appear in abandoned industrial plants.
- When you see webbing, you are close to a spider.
- If you attack any webbing, there's a chance you will provoke a nearby spider into attacking you.
- Bunker Spiders are powerful but slow, we advise using that to your advantage by outmaneuvering the spiders and backing off after each hit.
Unconfirmed Strategy
The game developers haven't officially confirmed this strategy, but some players in the community have observed that the Bunker Spiders don't pursue you when you're crouching. It seems the spider only reacts to movement vibrations when walking or running.
Additionally, there's another way to navigate through the webs without alerting the spider. If there's enough space, you can crouch-walk through the thin strings connecting the web to the wall to avoid detection. However, be cautious as they may attack crouching players moving through the large central part of the web.
It appears, that you can get very close to the tarantula or the name "Spider" if you crouch while moving. If this turns out to be true, there might be an update addressing it, as it doesn't seem like an intentional gameplay mechanic
Hopefully these tips can at least keep you alive!
