You want to take a break from fighting and looting in Lost Ark? No problem, of course the game also offers a crafting system and in order to use it, you have to farm materials. This is where the life skills or trade skills come into play, and we'll explain how the whole thing works.

What Are Life Skills?

To make items yourself, you need crafting materials, and they need to be collected or mined. To do this, you need the trade skills or life skills. These are unlocked from level 24 by completing specific quests. Here are all the life skills in Lost Ark:

  • Logging
  • Fishing
  • Gathering
  • Excavating
  • Mining
  • Hunting

How Do Life Skills Work?

To perform a life skill in Lost Ark, you will need the right tool, which you can buy from merchants. The tools come in five levels of rarity, with each level increasing durability and the chance to get rare materials. From level 2 onwards, you will have to craft the tools.

When you perform a trade or life skill, for example by cutting trees or gathering flowers, you level up that skill. Skyrim style, you dig? And the same principle as for the tools applies here as well: the higher your level, the higher your chance to get rare materials. Also, you need a higher level for bigger trees or rare plants.

However, you can't just go in like a maniac and start chopping down everything or fish until the seas are empty. Every life skill requires work energy, and you have a maximum of 10,000 points of it. So at some point you'll have to wait and regenerate your energy, per day you'll get back 4,320 points. You can also buy potions that can recharge your energy.

Why Is Crafting Worth It?

Crafting in Lost Ark is very important. For example, you can craft healing potions that you would otherwise have to buy with gold. These can easily be made with collected flowers. Wood is worthwhile to upgrade your fortress and produce ship materials there. You will also need wood to craft the ship Astray.
