The next Mario Kart is long overdue, and now... it wasn't announced. However, 48 new courses for Mario Kart 8 is nothing to scoff at.
We thought it would happen, and now it... didn't happen: The next Mario Kart was not revealed at the Nintendo Direct. Instead, we got an announcement that a lot of new content is coming to Mario Kart 8.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: 48 New Courses
Capping an insanely disappointing Nintendo Direct, was the announcement that we will get a lot of new DLC added to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Specifically, we are getting 8 DLC waves of Mario Kart content, each consisting of new courses. These courses are from all the old Mario Kart games, and, in total, we will get 48 courses until the end of 2023. The first wave of courses will consist of Coconut Mall, Choco Mountain, and Tokyo Blur. The courses are fully remastered and can be played locally, as well as online
The first DLC of courses will launch on March 18, for $25, with pre-orders available now. If you have a Nintendo Online membership, you can get the DLC for free.
So... aside from being hugely disappointed about not getting Mario Kart 9 news, or any interesting news really... can we please take a moment to talk about how sh*tty these Nintendo Directs are? Forget the games that were announced – could a presentation get any more stiff, any more awkward? Like, wtf did I just watch? Who does a showcase like this in 2022? How hard do you want to undersell your products? Could Nintendo be any more out of touch with the times? I'm honestly shocked, but... who cares, the games are sh*t anyway, and Nintendo is dying. Yeah, I said it. Breath of the Wild 2 is the only thing the Switch has going for it.
