Into the Spider-Verse is not only one of the best animated superhero movies of all time - it is flat out one of the best superhero movies of all time, and, honestly, sets a new standard for Western animation. With that in mind, it's no surprise everybody and their mother wants it to get a game adaption. Now, it turns out that we got one... and for some reason it was cancelled.

Cancelled Into The Spider-Verse Game Revealed

It's funny, because just days ago, rumors started floating about Insomniac working on a multiplayer game, which could well make use of the Into The Spider-Verse IP. This cancelled game, however, was in development at Daybreak Studios, who made DC Universe Online, and was cancelled after a "re-evaluation of the development risk profile, size of investment, and the long-term product portfolio strategy for the group." Sad.

Designer Ramiro Galan revealed some of the game designs on his Artstation profile, which reveal some menus, character designs, and clearly show off how the game was influenced by the Into The Spider-Verse artstyle. The game would have allowed you to choose between several factions: The X-Men, Avengers, S.H.I.E.L.D, and the Fantastic Four. Additionally, your superhero woud have been entirely customizable, from the powers to the looks.

Honestly, it's a damn shame, because this game actually looks good, which is not often the case for cancelled projects. Plus, with those aesthetics, and the Marvel IP, I can't imagine that the game wouldn't have garnered a lot of attention. Well... at least Insomniac still has a lot of new Marvel games lined up.
