Will we actually get to see who is behind the iconic Master Chief mask?
Is this really necessary? It’s been 20-years in the making, and now fans will be able to see what is behind the iconic Master Chief mask. Is it done in the right way? Was this what every kid growing up playing Halo 2 dreamed of?
Who knows… but we’re not here to debate philosophical questions surrounding the great Master Chief and his face, but rather get to the facts and those are that yes, Master Chief will be taking off his helmet. No, it won’t be in Halo Infinite.
What Does Master Chief Look Like?
Master Chief is an iconic character, and throughout his existence we’ve never seen what he looks like. Not once have we gotten a glimpse of his face. We do know though what kind of character he is based off of. In the early games, Master Chief was basically a silent-protagonist, barely speaking. He was supposed to be a man of few words, like Clint Eastwood.
But what does all this have to do with his face reveal? Well, In the upcoming Paramount Plus show — which was already green lit for a season 2 mind you — we will be receiving a full-frontal face reveal of our man of few words.
In an interview with IGN 343 Industries’ Studio Head of Transmedia, Kiki Wolfkill explained that “[they] set out to tell a character story and a personal story. And once [they] really got into what that story was, it became clear that you really needed to see the person in the armour and under the helmet.”
So, gone is the faceless man of few words. This reveal doesn’t come as a surprise though, since it won’t be Steve Downes — who has been the voice of the Chief in the games — “playing” Master Chief in the television series.
Who Will Play Master Chief?
Alright guys, we’re heading into spoiler territory here. The actor for Master Chief has already been cast, so we know what the big man will actually look like. Clint Eastwood in a Master Chief suit? No, the budget wasn’t there, and we’re not sure if Clint could handle wearing such heavy armor for so long.
No, instead, the actor playing Master Chief is none other than Pablo Schreiber who you might know from shows like Orange is the New Black — Pornstache — and American Gods. So, if you’re curious what Master Chief will apparently look like, you can just google the actor.
How the show will approach the reveal of Master Chiefs face is not known yet. Throughout the trailer he does keep his helmet on. Whether we only get to see him at a few instances without a helmet — like in the Mandalorian — or walking around helmet-less often — like Book of Boba Fett — will only be revealed when the show airs.
